Just read the 'chinese noodles' thread, (yum!) sorry about that!
Anyway talks about ketosis, I always thought ketosis was what CD was based on, if you just ate a vlc diet would you still loose as much weight then? I'm confused!
I thought ketosis was an important part of loosing weight?

Ketosis is not neccesary to lose weight. If you reduce your calories to a level less that you use then you will lose weight.

A VLCD diet such as cambridge and exante will also induce ketosis as they are low carb diets, that are high in protein for very few calories.

Atkins dieters ( I say Atkins, but low carbers generally) rely on being in ketosis to lose weight as their calorie consumption can be fairly high, but a vlcd dieter does not need to be in ketosis to lose weight, its going to happen anyway on 600 cals a day. Being in ketosis on vlcd's is just a bonus as you will burn fat faster.
