Laura's Diary - I'm Back

It's taken me so long to actually get around to starting this new diary. I'm not sure if anyone will remember me but I used to use MM a few months ago. Things haven't been going well since then, most recently the fact that I have been diagnosed with gallstones, an inflamed gallbladder which had led to it becoming infected...the cause of this mostly being my weight.
So I realised that I need to make losing weight a priority and remembered how much it helped to have somewhere to write down my thoughts/feelings etc. So I finally got enough courage to start a new diary and try to get my life back on track. :break_diet:
I look back on the last year and saw that I spent a lot of time wanting so badly to make changes in my life and to be a happier person that I used to pretend I was doing ok even when I wasn't. So have decided to start being honest with myself, with the help of this diary.
Am already feeling more positive about this new weight loss journey. :)

I dont remember you but I am fairly new
so welcome back and great to have the chance to get to know you
I too have to lose weight for health reasons
I need to lose more to even become overweight - and that seems like a good target to me for now

one thing you can do is make little changes - dont try to do it all at once
so if you think you dont exercise enough then just start by marching on the spot when you are waiting for the kettle to boil
then move that along to going up and down the stairs in the same time - change your full fat cheese to les kol or half fat cheddar - serve one extra veg at dinner - all the little changes wont be noticed by you or others (well maybe going up and down the stairs will) but will all add up and when you are comfy with those add something else in

good luck on becoming a healthier you :)

Thanks for your replies and thanks Aaleigha for your advice - which I will follow.
Hi Rach :D Yes of course I remember you! How have you been? Have left the nursery - it just didn't seem the right type of job for me at this time...I'm sure if I had started working there when I was a bit younger I would have loved it. I am now back in finance - Savings Accounts Assistant.
Havent been at my job for long and have had to have some time off due to my gallbladder problems. It's been quite a while I've been off sick - firstly they misdiagnosed it so the medication they put me on didnt ease any pain, then my temperature shot up so was in hospital as it had become infected, then lastly the antibiotics made me really unwell. Finally I am feeling a bit better, and am just waiting to see a surgeon as they have said that the gallbladder will need to be removed. But I am returning to work on Thurs (am so nervous - although work has been lovely, even sent me a Get Well card which everyone signed!)
Had another trip up to the hospital today - although not for me this time. My best friend's mum was taken in with severe back pains etc and she hasnt been well for a while. She has lymphedema and they are worried that they may have found a blood clot on her lung, but are doing more tests. So my friend rang and told me she was in hospital and asked me to come with her to see her. Am waiting to hear more from her about what the Dr has said...fingers are crossed it's not anything too serious!
Well that's all for this update I think. Hope everyone has had a good day today! :)

Thanks again everyone for your comments!
Unfortunately today hasn't been a great day, was meant to be returning to work tomorrow as my antibiotics run out today. However they have been giving me such bad side-effects. Originally I had to take anti-sickness pills at the same time but they have run out now. I woke up today and took my tablet, then it only felt like half hour later I was being so sick. This has continued for the whole of this morning. I feel so tired now. Think I may have to consider giving myself a couple more days to recover. Although I really want to get back to work, I want to make sure I'm well enough first. I haven't been in the job long though so hopefully they wont be mad. It's just been one problem after the other with my gallbladder! :sigh:
On a more positive note, seeing as I was destined to spend this morning ill in bed, I used the time to plan all my dinners for the next few weeks. Had to work with a list of food that I can't eat which the Drs have given me (inc cheese :( which I would have liked to have every now and then but oh well).
Have my fingers crossed that after my last antibiotic today I will start to feel better and can do some more exercise as I've missed that the last few weeks in and out of hospital/Drs and in pain.
Hope everybody else is having a great day! x

Not a great start to my new and healthier life - have just been fired. Presumably because of having to take too much sick leave due to gallbladder during my probation period, although they may give another reason. My letter apparently will come tomorrow. :(

Hi Loz,

Can they fire you just like that if you are off sick? I do not know much about employment law, maybe someone else does.
However you do still sound very poorly so perhaps losing your job will spur a surgeon on to sort your gall bladder probems out and give you time to make a proper full recovery.

Hope you start to feel better soon hun and good luck with WW.

Hi and thanks for the supportive comments. :) As I was still in my probabtion period they can pretty much get rid of you for any reason. Am trying to concentrate on the fact that this will allow me to concentrate more on my health for a while. x

Thanks Lea :D I remember you as well. Thanks for the nice comments! Hope you are well.x

Just thought I would say hi :) i'm a relatively newbie :) lol xx
Hi Lindsay :) Hope you are enjoying it here, the people are so lovely! xx

Am feeling slightly more positive...having talked things through with hubby and family/friends.
It probably means that we will have to move back in with the in-laws which although it won't be too bad, it will seem strange after living in our own place for over 2 years. On the positive side it will mean we wont have to worry too much about bills etc.
I'm trying not to worry too much or get too upset as there's is nothing I could have done or can do now about it. It's not the end of the world, just have to learn from it and take the time to focus on getting better and losing weight before the operation.
Hope everyone's having a nice evening!xx

Thanks everyone for your supporitve comments, they really do help me to stay on track!
Am kind of proud that I've managed to stay within my points diet wise, as normally when I feel ill or something bad happens I run to the fridge.
Hubby is going round to his parents tomorrow to see if they can help us out in any way - will probably end up with us moving back in with them.
I have a friend coming round tomorrow as we lent her some money a while ago and she is starting to pay some of it back. So that will help us out a bit. Also it will be nice to see her. She had a baby at the end of last year so he will be with her which will be good. She moved away a bit so haven't seen much of her lately.
Not sure what the plans are for tonight.
Hope everyone's having a good day! xx

well done for sticking to your points hunnybunch.. it'll be worth it in the end - much more worth it than the feeling you get once you turn to food for comfort!

hope you enjoy seeing your friend and her little one :) xxx
