Little people- 5ft 2in and under

Hello to all you tall ladies who might be having a browse- I'm not heightest at all I'm just a little lady and wondered about other little'uns experience with weight gain/loss.

So..I'm 4 foot 11 AND A HALF inches!!! (4'11.5")
I just updated my stats because I told a little fib and put that I was 5 ft. But may as well do things properly eh.

If I put 2 lbs on, it looks like I've put a stone on...and up until the last couple of days (I'm on day 15) I thought that losing the weight wasn't showing. I've lost 7lbs and I can FINALLY feel/see it!!! And its fab!!

Soo..instead of whinging about my friends who all way LOADS more than me but are 2 (TWO!!) dress sizes SMALLER than me I must embrace the littleness and realise that my weight loss will show more quickly than a taller woman too (right?)

BUT- For me to have a nice and healthy BMI and to reach my Dukan "True Weight" I have to be 119lbs- 8st7lbs. I mean- as if!!! I don't think I was even that at 17 and I was a healthy size 10!!!

I would LOVE to hear about other small ladies experiences. Preferably closer to the 5 foot mark.

Do you think your TW is obtainable, realistic and healthy?
Does a 2lb weight gain show more than a 2lb weight loss? (Feels like that sometimes)
Where do you buy bottoms for exercising from that aren't too long!!!!??
Anything else please!!!

Oh I sympathise! I'm 5ft and half of one inch! I'm very protective of my half inch!
I too seem to show weight gain more than weight loss.
I think I was designed to be a weeble!!!
Asda do some petite clothes but I sometimes struggle to find them in stock - but at the low prices I can just keep an eye out when doing the weekly shop rather than needing a special trip.

Hi Kimberley! Ive just started Dukan this weekend. I am another small person. Always thought I was 5'2" when in fact I am 5'1". Gutted! Youve done really well to lose half a stone in two weeks well done!

I do feel like the extra weight really shows on me being short but I do also think that the shape I am makes it easier to hide if Im careful about what I wear. Trousers are an absolute nightmare, even some petite places are too long on me! Reebok do make a short leg length trackies which do me ok but its a nightmare trying to get them!

According to the website my true weight is 8st12 which I think isnt too bad cos Ive always wanted to be about 9st. The lightest Ive been was about 10lbs heavier than that and I felt I looked ok but could do with losing a bit more. Im not sure how much it will take to get to TW. Im hoping the weight comes off quick with Dukan so I wont have to struggle to get there. Fingers crossed!!

Just googled weeble! LOL!!!
I'm protective of my half inch too gentoo!
Hope your losses start showing MORE than your gains ;-)

Hello there Ted! (didn't want to call you fat_ted! lol)
I think 8st12 might be a little more realistic for me actually. Would be nice to say that you weigh less than 9 stone! Can you imagine!! :-D
I think the thing is with Dukan that the Attack is so so successful that it fills you with optimism and motivation. Then things seem to stabilise- so that I lost 2.2lbs in a week which is obviously brilliant but not as drastic as the initial 4lbs in 4 days.
So I think although you may struggle a little at times- the boost that you have from the initial weight loss is enough to carry you through those times!
I'd also say the key to success is spend some time preparing your food so that you don't end up eating a plain boiled egg with plain cottage cheese (my breakfast in attack) and hating your life. Lol.

Good luck pal!!! :)

Lol! I was already feeling a bit like that about eggs this morning. Think I will be having my oat bran as porridge tomorrow!

You should its great! I'd have to cut off my legs to weigh less than 9 stone. I'm just having some rhubarb and yoghurt with toasted oat bran on top like a crumble. Its really delicious, I just mix it with some sweetener and toast it in the oven for 15 mins or so on low - keep an eye on it though!

Hi, I am another under 5ft 2 person, at a stunning 5ft 1 and (get this)3/4 inches tall !! However as an oldie with 3 children my "true weight" is an achievable 10 st 3lb, not sure if this is going to be ok or not as I haven't got there yet, and I was thinking more along the lines of 9st 7lb to 9st 12lb! Will see how I feel anyway! Oh and I got joggers from MandS which didn't need 6 inches cutting off the bottoms!!

Well impressed with your 3/4 of an inch!!! :-D
I forgot that Dukan takes other factors into account when deciphering "true weight", thats what makes it personal isn't it.
It's nice that you feel your TW is achievable- its good to have an obtainable goal.

I'm sooo going to check out M&S- never even thought to look there! Thanks izzysmum and keep us up to date!! :)

Hi, I am also a little person 5ft 0in. I also get my trousers/jeans from M&S (length short of course) Which fits perfectly for me.
Unfortunately a lot of shops seem to think there are no short fat people around lol. Hopefully I will not fall in the fat catagory soon. :D

Just a quick aside (from a broad-shouldered non-shortie who will never be less than a size 12 even if I managed to get my weight below 10st) - Asda also allow you to order clothes etc on-line and have it delivered for free to your local store for pick-up. That's how I finally managed to get cheap boots in my size ;-)

I apologise for posting on your shorty thread as I'm defo a non shorty at 5'10" - finding clothes long enough has always been a nightmare especially trousers (have to wear flat shoes only). I'm ashamed to say Ive had tantrums in various shops because not one item to be had was Long. I was told in my local M & S that there is no demand for clothes other than for short or regular length .......... so I always go to the city stores now !!! Buying tall clothes is fine from specialist shops but you need a bank loan to buy them. Moan over.

This diet works for everyone regardless of height , age or whatever
Welcome to the forum :)

Hijacking again!

Chris they do tall in Next and Dorothy Perkins don't they or aren't they long enough. My friend buys loads in Long tall sally, I don't know where she gets the money from it would just make me cross if I had to spend that sort of money on OK clothes.

My mate who is tall and has exceptionally long legs always complains as much as I do. As she says at least with being short things can be taken up. My sister is also a size 6/8 and she complains she cannot find clothes small enough so it seems that no matter what shape/size we are we're not happy!!

I think I'd try and live with it if I was a size 6/8 :D

Tall people never suffer the indignity of not being able to reach their shopping though...that's always my answer! Finding an appropriate helper can be a challenge!

In relation to the original poster yeah I do find it shows a lot when I gain weight and I'm just 5'3!

I am 5ft 3 and a fag paper :D I dont smoke but that fag paper counts! I really dont know why i say it but I remember someone saying it once to me hahahaha

Well I'm 5'2" and a midgies dick....so I always say I'm 5'3", and how tall do you want to be....as long as your legs reach the floor and reach your bum....that's my dads words lol
