Liven Up Your Food - Spice Rubs

So, one of the main reasons people go off plan is becuase of getting bored so here are a few spice rubs I've found to try and liven things up. I've not tried all of them yet but they sound good!

For all of them, just combine the ingredients and store in a container, preferably airtight, in the cupboard.


Hamburger Seasoning (or for any mince!):
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
Cajun Seasoning (excellent tossed with roast veg and cumin seeds or tossed with potatoes before roasting):
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Blackened Seasoning Mix (great over any meat - chicken, pork chops, even fish)(not tried this one yet but it got good reviews!):
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

I'm trying it today too with turkey burgers. I shall give my opinion later after dinner!

I couldn't really taste mine so next time I'll add some more to it. Pulled out my George Foreman from the deep dark depths of my cupboard and dusted it off. Cooked them in no time!

Thanks for this Stacey. I totally agree- herbs and spices can make things taste 100x better. People laugh when they see all my herbs and spices!
