So, here I am - returning to lighter life after giving up in September 2009. I successfully completed 12 weeks of abstinence then decided that I didn't need RTM but didn't bother to attempt to stay healthy. I let myself down but I definately wasn't in the right place for such a commitment.

So here we go again but this time I have the support of my friends (last time I didn't tell anyone). Some of them seem unhappy with my choice but like many people have said on this forum they seem happy that I am overweight, they must look really good next to me just now.

I am due to start on 16th July and I am really excited!! I already bought myself a size 12 dress to wear to my christmas party! I am looking to lose around 5.5 stone but as many returners will know the closer you get to your goal the smaller you want to become. I would LOVE to be a size 10 but size 12 right now seems more achievable. I kept all my favourite 'small' clothes from my last attempt and I can't wait to reintroduce myself to them.

Hoping that this forum is going to help me stay on track and like i mentioned in another thread I downloaded the iPhone app as I work away alot so will have 24/7 ability to post where people know what I am going through.

Louise xx

Horrible headache last night and today - reminds me why it's easier to start cutting out carbs now as it will make becoming abstinent so much easier. Staying away from tomorrow till Wednesday with work so will need to be careful as to what I am eating.

Going to start drinking water as so far it's been diluting juice but I need to get used to plain water and upping my intake.

So this morning I am sat on a train from Aberdeen to Inverness and I have been thinking about my weight and what I want to achieve. I have worked out my current BMI and I am horrified to say that it's 39.6! To achieve a BMI of 24 I need to lose 91lbs - almost a whole person!!
If I wasn't sat on a train I would probably be sobbing my heart out but hey it's the reality of the situation and I would be facing it next Saturday anyway!

To keep me going I have come up with a reward scheme which I am going to put down here because as long as it's public I will definitely stick to it. So here it is, for every stone I lose I get something good!

1 stone - luxury facial
2 stone - new jacket
3 stone - purple hunter wellies
4 stone - a bag, preferably a tabitha bag
5 stone - a piece of nice jewellery
6 stone - a full on spa weekend

Does anyone else reward themselves??

I am beginning to worry about the social side of the diet, I find it difficult to go out to dinner and just sit so for now I won't be going out to dinner / lunch with friends.

I kind of feel that the diet is overtaking all my thoughts!! I am becoming obsessed. Does anyone else feel this way?

Happy Monday everyone xx

Hi Louise
Welcome back to LL and good luck with your weight loss journey.
I treat myself to little things at the moment, like nail polish a face pack. Nice hand lotion ect.My Oh treated me to a spa day whilst on holiday.
Its good to reward yourself with non food treats.
I feel LL has taken over but I still manage social situations by having a pack before I go out and taking a bar with me. I order a sparkling water and it doesnt bother me that everyone is eating because I know the food will still be there once I a at goal and slim.
A friend i know orders a side salad and fries them offers them around to everyone.
Everyone has a solution which suits them
Take care

Fabulous reward system, loving the hunters! I told my daughter I want some new riding boots only they will be sexy ones so I will look hot in my jods and riding boots at the stables lol she thinks I am nuts but in the past I have struggled to get big enough boots to go round my fat legs or even bought men's boots, not anymore yay !!!!

As for social situations, don't over analyse things there are ways around everything. You have had good advice so far, I took my water flavouring too when I went out, however in the first couple of months I knocked the socialising on the head as I could have easily fell off the wagon so I removed temptation.

Good luck hun xx

Some good advice from the girls already. This diet does take over your life at the begining. I think it needs to, for me I needed that space to get my head round what I was doing and what food had come to mean to me. Still not great with social situations, working on that one though. It's taking me longer to shed the weight but I am very happy with my progress. I dont tend to loose anything significant on other weight loss programs and never comitt to them as long as I can for lighter life.

REwards are important. I mean we are removing one of our favorite rewards in the form of food. ( Well it was my favorite reward lol ) Small and often rewards are good, so are the big planned ones. One of my aims is to get a pretty walking rain coat rather than a man's one.

Doing well with the preparation lovely girl xx

I agree with the treats and how the diet takes over your life and I think it should! Where I have come unstuck in the past is because I didn't put myself and my needs first in my life. This is so important for me so if I want to succeed it has to come first! Treats start tomorrow with a haircut -very necessary but left until tomorrow to help with day one. Thursday change of nail polish. Friday window shopping Saturday some sort of shopping treat. Hopefully that might take me into ketosis! Have a great day guys x:)

Never a true word spoken, I agree with not putting ourselves first us larger people tend to do that in our former lives, not anymore though hey hun!?!

Enjoy the pamper session, I coloured my hair yesterday and this morning took my toenail varnish off as I am going to buy a bright corla one as it will look nice with the little bit of a tan I now have lol little things please my little mind lol xx

Hello Louise
You've hit the nail on the head-
TREATS ..........................
They don't have to be food and drink related
For so many years we are programmed to reward ourselves with food treats. You've done well when you are feeling so down, to come up with a lovely treat list.
It will be a challenge, hopefully not a struggle to get to the BMI you want.
I too had a person to lose, a large person (12 stone). Before I started it seemed impossible, but the before and afters on Minimins made me realise that real people CAN do it. And YOU are a real person, you can do it.
One tip from me - Don't completely opt out of your social life. At the start it's probably a good idea until you feel confident and are well into ketosis and losing well.
It's certainly doable to go to events and celebrations that include food and drink and stay abstinent. It can be a challenge. That's when you need treats and distractions, especially at first.
New hairdo, colour, nails, shoes, bags, week-ends, theatre trips, concerts, cosmetics, massage, clothes - you'll lose a size a month.
Soon be there- no problem.
Ultimate goal; slim, confident, beautiful bride. x
Good luck xx

I wish I could shrink you all and have you sitting in my pocket at all times!

Good advice about social events. Will definitely make sure I don't miss out when I feel ready.

I know what you all mean about putting me first. I was talking to a friend about how i feel that most people expect me to out them ahead of what I want and need. This is truly a time to be selfish!!

No not selfish, just put you first. I always think selfish people are horrible and I would hate to be considered selfish, but really wouldnt mind if people thought I put myself first. I have to look after me to then support others a selfish person wouldnt help anyone but them selves and I think we all show great strength in supporting/helping each other. xx
