Lunchen meat and other cooked meats

    In my book it says ham is free but what about other meats? im guessing chicken will be, but what about cuts like beef, corned beef, pork, and luncheon meat? does there have to be below a certain fat/sugar content

    I always took processed meats to be free where there was no visible fat. So that's corned beef out right away. And probably luncheon meat because its not exactly high quality and would be made from fattier cuts and then reformed. To be fair I didn't really eat a huge amount so its best to either look up specifics or to post them on here and ask if, pretty please, someone can do it for you.

    Ok for example I found corned beef ranges between 2.5 - 3.5 per 100g. Luncheon meat in and around 6. Sliced pork loin is free (flavoured varieties vary) and so on.

    Thanks for help , looked closely at the ingredients and its high in fat 13% and has a lot of added stuff like wheat and other stuff, as its only a Tesco value packet on luncheon meat I was wondering about no big deal, t least I know better in future
     
  6. If you take a slice of meat like beef or ham or pork, you can see the fat and you can cut it off. If something is chopped up and scrunched back together again, like corned beef or luncheon meat or spam, then you can't cut it off. And as these are normally cheaper than "real" meat, they are usually going to be high in fat and have other fillers to bulk them out.

    If meat is cheap, there is usually a reason!
