Lynne: Low Carb Fan

Although the weight is almost going down (I say that because its up and down with a slight leaning towards overall loss), I have three months of visitors and visiting coming up, which will be very tricky. But fun. I hope I have the strength to not utterly ruin my progress. Its very nice when people comment on my loss. I don't fuss about it so I know they arent commenting to please me, most didn't even know I have been dieting. I have lost 1.5 inches off my waist, and even I can see the difference in my mid section. The heat has been getting me down on the last two weeks. Up till them I thought I was doing well. Today I am going to put on the air con and clean the house. it will burn calories, and I can feel smug at the finish. Love to all xXx Lynne :)
 
Well done Lynne!!! You're doing so well, and the compliments are always great :). If it's really hot your visitors will probably only want to eat salads, which always helps.

This heat is awful isn't it, we're back up to 35 today, with rain and mugginess due tomorrow, oh joy!
 
Its only 28c today with a fabulous fresh breeze, so I have been happily pottering about. The skies were grey and I fantasised about rain, it didn't happen. Well, not here, but I am betting 8 or more Km's away, higher in the mountains, they were having a lovely dousing. Our son arrives in just under three weeks. We tend to eat out a fair bit, because its pretty cheap and fun. They also go off and do their own thing sometimes, which suits us because it means we can get chores done and chill.

I weigh in Lbs and I am getting close to 'Onederland'. This is a big deal. It is my second mini goal. Got two days of socialising next week, which might dent it a bit. But we shall see.....
 
I see my last weigh-in here was 201. Well I now weigh 10lbs more than that. I blame people visiting, a trip to the UK, Christmas and a long running virus that knocked me for 6. I am feeling a lot better now, though a slight residual cough lurks. I am weighing up whether to go the Keto Route or the Food Combining Route. I will ass here that in late summer I actually got into the "Onesies" I looked a lot better, felt good and found it SO easy. I was doing Food Combining. I have a PDF of a brilliant book by DJ Foodie called Taking Out the Carbage. I would LOVE to have that book in Hardback, but it's only available in the States :( I am going to the UK in March and I have contactd DJ Foodie to ask IF there was any way it could be shipped to the UK. Ihave checked with an American company and they will ship it for the princely sum of £63 P.P!!!! Yeouch!!

I'm an Atkins refugee from several years ago. Great to see you back. I haven't heard of the book but I'll keep an eye out for it. Ten pounds isn't too far from where you were. Good luck for 2018. Are you still living abroad?

I'm desperate so VLCDing for a while to lose 6 stones and then back to lovely low carb. Why did I ever desert it? :1461:

Ooh Kat1e, loving your recipes and the site, -so smart. I used to save recipes as email drafts. But now I have Evernote and I find its handy to be able to save a recipe on my laptop and them to be available on my phone because it syncs. I also use Evernote for many other things. I had it on my computer for AGES snd didnt know what the heck it was. Now I love it. Not as posh or gorgeous as what you have done though :D
 
Hi there - just coming back to Minimins - and saw you are looking at Keto. I've been using dietdoctor.com and am lurking on the reddit keto threads. The keto thread on reddit has a really useful calculator. FB groups on this sort of way of eating seem toxic and not so supportive.

I choose low carb medium protein high fat things to eat - and track it, rather than rigid planning. I choose not to eat "white" foods - potatoes, bread, pasta, wheat pizza etc.

I had lost a shed load of weight on vlcd, and then didn't manage maintenance. When I tried to do vlcd again, I couldn't sustain it. I'm finding the low carb approach much easier.

So I aim to shed 100lbs - starting with the first 10% as that seems more manageable. I've reset my tracker - and am already 5% (a stone) down on my new start weight. So I am pleased with that.

I find it much easier than shakes as I can eat - and often things I really like, like meat, eggs and low carb veg.

I started off just eating the foods on dietdoctor's webpage.

Now I've been tracking what I eat on MFP for two weeks, staying under 20 carbs. I don't feel deprived and am rarely hungry. I'm down 16lbs since 1 Dec - 52 days. I know it may steady - however I'll be very happy if I can shed a stone every 6 weeks - I'll be c4 stone down by Xmas - that probably means size 18-20 from size 24-26 now. My waist is already down a good few inches, even though I've just shed a stone.

I'm a bit disappointed to find no lchf thread here - and also not to find old friends active here.

Atkins is the nearest to lchf or keto - and thats not so active either.

The only difference is that Atkins phases back in more carbs to find steady state when at goal, whereas hard core keto or low carb stay that way. I am thinking about posting on the diaries thread - as daily blogging here was helpful. Reading back through a single thread was good - tracking how I felt. I have weighed daily (up & down, not straight line) on MFP. So I am thinking about daily posting here or on reddit (can't have a single thread there). Not really decided yet.

Hey Lynne, I’m an Evernote fan too and throw loads of recipes in there. My website is useful backup when I just need easy standard stuff:)

Thanks all - I went off piste - and am now doing keto via a vlcd with low carb veg/berries. I need the disruption to stay on track.
 
Hi all. I found an email notification for this in my spam folder in Google Mail. I have firmly wagged a finger at the filters, and maybe from now on I wont be missing anything! Anyway, brief update, I did well on Food Combining last year but not so well this year so I went Low Carb recently, all was going well but then I had a small operation and just 3 days after our Granddaughter was born by emergency caesarian and gave us about 3 anxious days. All's good now and I am trying to get back to LCHF. Lots of lovely recipe books on my kindle. Life is good. Best wishes to you all. Will be back to boast of a loss, when it happens........

Thanks for your post from earlier this year. I'm ketoing via meal replacements and low carb veg and fruit. I need the disruption to shed weight faster than a lb or two a month!

Glad all is well with you and yours - and you are here again. Have you come across dietdoctor? great recipes and useful videos re LCHF. I loved their meat pie recipe!
 
Hiya Aligal! Sorry I have been awol again, not been very well, thankfully getting over it and heading to UK on Wednesday for 12 days. Cleebrating middle son's 41st and meeting his baby daughter who's only one month old!!! While there I will also be spending time with our other two sons. too. I am SO looking forward to it. This always involves dietary anarchy, so I will resume whatever WOE I choose at end of August. I seem to be mising huge chunks on Minimins. I dont think I am getting regular notifications. I hope you are doing well Aligal. :)
