Hello - I am 7 weeks into LL and I probably need to do 200 days to get to goal which takes me long past June 17th which is the date of this year's London to Brighton bike ride for the British Heart Foundation. I will be about a stone or so away from goal but I am well aware that a 54 mile cycle ride (in one day) is what we might class as overdoing it a bit.

I know the general advice would be to leave that sort of thing 'til I was a way into maintenance, but part of me really wants to do it because it is because of BHF that I am here.

To cut a long story short, the practise nurse at my surgery weighed me last year and gave me what must have been a very expensive coloured brochure from BHF that said 'eat less and exercise more and vegetables are good for you and sugar and fat is bad for you' - bored to tears with this one-sided approach, I promptly put on another stone.

These people obviously need more money for their research ;)

On a serious note though - I would love to do it and it would be a hell of an achievement to go from 18 stone on the 7th Jan 2007 to almost 11 stone and BMI 25 by late June and cycle 54 miles (something I would never have wanted to do before).

Obviously my health and well-being are the major concern - but any advice or thoughts would be gratefully received - thanks!
