Man v Food

Than Adam bloke off there. Not sure if I want to shake his hand or knock him out!

A few months ago, I was jealous of him and quite fancied a go at some of the challenges. Now I'm in awe but not at all envious.

I love watching that! He is a walking heart attack after all that food! But then maybe he eats super healthy the rest of the time

I often wondered that. After all I know it is only a tv show, but it seems to be rammed down and endured rather than enjoyed?

I'd like to think he was a food lover and enjoyed it. I know nothing of him, but the show is fascinating.

I find it funny how it doesn't matter whether he's talking about fresh crab, or plastic cheese. He talks about everything with such enthusiasm, always raving about how amazing it is. He's never once said 'well it was ok, but i wouldn't have it again', or even 'actually that was rank'!!

I don't know if it's just me, but there are some of those challenges that don't even look that hard!

I used to like watching that too....but i just cant get my head round, why?? i mean why would you, its not even as if you get something good for finishing...a t shirt in most places lol. How he does half of it amazes me....and i dread to think what his insides look like lol

I find the size of their normal portions astonishing too - It might just be because the cameras are there (but I doubt it), but in some episodes everyone is chowing down on monster plates of food - just as their normal meals!

I was addicted to this show - and having watched it we made sure we visited a couple of places he went to for our honeymoon.

The best one was Phil's Barbecue in San Diego - pulled pork and slow cooked beef in baps - gorgeous.

We also went to the NASCAR cafe in Las Vegas - while we were there, 2 people came in to do the challenge that he did - they have a special table (with a Man V Food logo on it) - and a webcam where you can view the table 24/7. No idea if they managed the challenge as it was our last day and we needed to leave to get our flight home. But in the 30 ish minutes we saw they had barely made a dent - it was a 6lb burrito and it was ENORMOUS (just think - a small newborn baby can weigh about 6lbs and it was about the same size)

Wasn't tempted to try the challenges - but while in NASCAR cafe we just had to try their bizzare concoction - curly fries, pineapple and chocolate sauce - it was...interesting. Also ordered hot dogs - apparently 1 is never enough so every order comes with 2 - I would argue 1 is plenty!

I was proud to have only put on 4lbs when I returned from honeymoon!

I too love this programme. I can't believe he isn't bigger than he actually is; some of the food he manages to eat is unbelieveable. And how do people come up with these ideas.

When watching the programme it makes you realise why so many Americans are so large, even the small potions look huge.

i LOVE this programme!! a lot of the things he eats, burgers, chilli, burritos, pulled pork sandwiches (NOM!!) can all be made SW friendly dont forget ;) xx

I don't think it matter's how it's made, if you're eating 7lbs of anything it's going to stick somewhere!!

I must admit I quit watching it once I starled shedding the pounds. I recently had loads of episodes recorded via series link and deleted the lot without viewing.

Hmm. I'm sure a quack would make something of that lol.

Love this programme - it's like food porn, hehe. Anyone know if he want anywhere in LA? I'm going there in March and want to visit (for a small portion).. there again I've heard people don't actually eat in LA!

I think he has been - trouble is LA is so vast, you might not necessarily end up anywhere near the places he's been.

There is a website (i think its the Travel Channel TV website - but a google on Man vs Food should find it) - it does have details of all the shows and places he's been so worth a look.

I do think that despite the sillyness of the portions and challenges he does generally seek out places that do good, well cooked food and its nice to see honest, independent restaurants featured in the show.
