Hi there, I know there is a thread which discusses the syn values of the meat free products, but I wondered more generally if anyone knew why the change came about that they went from free to counted?

And also who has started to count them and who just continued to have them and still lost weight?

if your talking about quorn sausages, they're now synned as they increased the fat content ( I emailed their customer services to find out whether the old style would still be available)

I would count them if I was going to eat them but at the mo I still have plenty of the old style sausages left as I kept being them everywhere I seen them when I knew they weren't being made anymore. I only like to use syns on treat things.

    meant buying them!

ps the email said that they increased the fat content to make them tastier and they still were far lower in fat that meat sausages.

Thanks, it was actually the Tesco Lincolnshire Meat Free Sausages I've been eating as they're listed in my free branded foods 2011 but had noticed on here that they now seem to be sinned. I weigh everyday and am still losing despite having eaten them none the wiser so was a bit unsure whether to cut them out at the moment and wondered what everybody else was doing!

Shame about the sins as they are brill tasting sausages!

Hi, is there a rule to follow on this, or should I check each product with one of the lovely people on this forum?

I'm using the EE Food Optimising book, which says TVP is free, has it changed or just some brands?

    Thanks!

If something has free food in it you need to use the syn calculator to work out the syn value - its only available to members so if you're not a member you'll have to ask someone on here to calculate it.

Lots of the main brands are already listed though if you do a search, but they do go out of date quickly as recipes change so ask if you're not sure.

If theres no free food allowance its 1 syn per 20 calories.

Dried (defatted) TVP is free, frozen is not:

Textured vegetable protein (TVP)/soya protein, frozen, 100g 1

it is on the SW website. You need to sign up using the number on your membership card and the PIN number written in the back of your Food optimising book. There should have been a flyer in your starter pack telling you how to access the online resources
