the only reason that this diet is safe is because it's nutritionally complete. normally you probably don't get all your RDAs of vitamins etc, but it doesn't matter so much cos your body isn't trying to survive on starvation rations.

secondly, the precise quantity of carbs and protein have been carefully calculated to prevent the brain going short of fuel (carbs) and minimise muscle loss (protein). You might not think you care about muscle loss, but your heart is a muscle - and heart failure has historically been a problem with people on similar diets where things haven't been so carefully calculated.

lastly, if your body isn't getting the bare minimum of fuel, it will start shutting down inessential functions. like your fertility. and hair growth.

don't muck about with your packs. have them all or you will do yourself harm.
