You dont have to use your syns for choc/wine/crisps etc, it can be sauces for stir frys, gravy, mayo/salad cream

You should be having at least 5 syns per day-partly so that you dont feel deprived and then go on to binge!

I really didnt feel the need for them the last few days i was so full from super free and free foods!!
I will try to have 5 a day with sauces etc as suggested and save some for the weekend.
vino and cream egg it is then!!

aim for 10 syns a day, its a good point so if u need more u can have more and if your weight sticks you can drop them down a little

Before maintaining I always had 15 syns. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less, but it balanced at 15.
One lady in our group who was struggling, with small losses despite sticking to plan, used to have about 5 a day. Over Easter she had at least 15 a day, if not more, and expected a gain, but lost 4 pounds!
It shows that the body needs the boost if one is struggling.

I had 33.5 syn yesterday.:eek:
Treated myself had a couple of small glasses of wine and some Indian nibbles.
I start the week with between 70 - 105 (10 - 15 per day) and count down.

i used to use around 3 syns a day but i found i was dreaming of creamcakes ! so i have started using the syns for extras like hp sauce and bisto and maybe a mini twister lolly.. a really good low syn pud is tescos light choices ice cream raspberry ripple and you can have a 100gm bowl full for 3 syns very satisfying .you can use them continue to drop the weight lukily ive not gained and its only twice ive completely blown them at 60 syns (drink:( ) and 23 for a chinese meal out but i still lost weight those weeks you just cut down the rest of the week and exercise more .

I'd suggest you use the syns ..... wisely! Slimming World allow these 5-15 syns a day, just for the reasons people have already pointed out .... they don't want anyone to feel "deprived" on their eating plan, and weightloss journey! It really IS a lifestyle change, so if you fancy a couple of glasses of wine or chocolate (or whatever) you have the flexibility to add it in! Just not too much of it! It can take a bit of time to get your head around the idea that you really can have these things and still lose weight, but I know that if I don't have my syns, that's when I'd be more likely to binge! I hope you get into the swing of it all soon, and please don't feel "guilty" even if you DO go slightly over your syns for a day .... take the 70 - 105 syns a week and enjoy them! Best o'luck'n'stuff to you!

I've found so far that I lose more if I use the full 15 a day, so dont be afrid. I always use them for chocolate and treats, but get individual packs of thing so that I dont end up thinking 'yeah, a little bit more won't matter'

Thats the first week motivation for you! I hardly used any in my first week, and remembered thinking i'll never need all these syns!! I'm on my 11th or 12th week now i'm not sure, and I pretty much always use most of if not all of mine now!! :p

Even though I'm still motivated and sticking to the plan, theres nothing like the sheet motivation of the first week to stop you from wanting any junk! xxx

i too am scared to use my syns, and i've been on the plan for about 10 weeks! I tend to use almost 15 a day on the weekend, but in the week i usually only use a few. i am just worried that i'll use 15 a day and have a very minimal weight loss, you know?!

I know exactly how you feel I'm on my second week and am really nervous about using my syns, I know that I should, but I just dont want to its strange!
I bought a creme egg the other day as my treat, and it was in the cupboard for ages untill I finally convinced myself to have it last night lol! I really enjoyed it aswell.

I probably wont have any syns today apart from 1 tsp sugar, as I'm going to have a couple of glasses of wine tomorrow night I think!

I suppose we are all different in our approach to weight loss. You have to do what is comfortable for you. If you think a 'treat' will leave you wanting more then use a few syns with your normal meals. An extra potato (on a red day) or a sauce with a little more cheese in etc. This way your body isn't feeling deprived of a little fat or sugar which is probably what makes us crave in the first place and is actually good to get your body working (I say that but I might be wrong!).

For example, I know that having a small piece of something like cake won't make me feel better but will instead make me crave more so I've had to cut out those things completely. SW doesn't tell me to cut it out but I know that for me it will work better if I do. Perhaps that will change, perhaps not.

If you're really concerned using your syns on chocolate or whatever might 'throw you over the edge' then try something you haven't eaten before as some syns. This will use the syns you need and keep you to plan but perhaps not remind you of the things that made you gain weight to begin with.

Just some thoughts and ramblings.:p

Edit: I understand your feelings completely and haven't used my syns the last 2 weeks. Also haven't lost much weight so I'm using this week to see if the syn use helps!
