Hi Everyone ! I am here again . I always seem to veer back to high protein low carb . I do like the Harcombe Diet and it produces amazing weight losses . I start today at 17st 9. I have the added complication of a gastric band but have had some of the restriction taken out. The band hasn't really worked for me. I am three stone lighter than when I had it done three years ago but it's been a three year battle too. My weight started creeping up recently and after a couple attempts at various diets I am back to the harcombe diet. If you can do five days that's brill but last time I tried it i was scared to move onto phase two in car I undid all my hard work. It was because of this i gave up. I will post my daily food on here and any help in assisting me to move to phase 2really would be appreciated after I have done the first five days.

I am on day 1 - here goes!!

    Day one

Breakfast: homemade pork sausages made with minced pork, egg and black pepper
    Spoonful of chopped tomatoes
Lunch: Spicy roast Moroccan chicken ( recipe book) and mixed salad leaves
Dinner: curry sauce ( recipe book butternut squash curry base without the butternut squash and veg!) with chicken, butternut squash chips ( roasted with butter)
Drinks: 2 decaf coffees black, numerous glasses of water!
Feedback would really be appreciated for my first day! :)

Just made an onion and pepper omelette. I am not an egg lover but I used a full onion and one small pepper to three eggs . The onion aroma stands out more than the egg so I think it will be more pleasant for me to eat. I added lots of seasoning too and cooked it really slowly. I will be really chuffed if I like it. Will keep you posted when I have it tomorrow lol

Sounds lovely! I like omlettes but really have to be in the mood for eggs lol. Getting on plan on this diet I find relatively easy. It's just when I have a drink I get a binge on for some reason x

What do you drink? Could it be the sugars used in the alcohol making process ? Alcohol isn't my problem - I turn to chocolate and high carb meals when I have slipped up. I go into carb overdrive!

I don't know I just seem to get drunk and raid the chocolate cupboard. It's not craving chocolate tho as I have dark choc in. Think I just go to self sabotage mode or something. Am working on it from now though! Watch this space lol x

I know that self destruct button too much, I have pushed it all my adult life . I wish I knew the triggers but one second I can be perfect , the next split second I have thrown all my hard work away . Lets face it though , we wouldn't be here if we didn't have a problem! I wish I knew the answer, but onwards and downwards (weight) lol

Exactly - it'll click at some point. But you can't fail till you stop trying eh!! How's your day going? I've had porridge with oat milk for breakfast (yum) but starting to get hungry now so will be having my homemade veg soup and tuna salad with homemade mayo shortly. Have bolognaise for tea - might try the courgette noodles this time x

That sounds good . When can you have porridge ? The trouble with me is I like sweetener with it ! It's aged since I read the books . Can you have almond milk ? How did you move onto phase 2?

I am eating the same as yesterday apart from having the omelette too ! I always cook far more than what I need!

You can have porridge in place of rice on p1. Tbh though I don't revert back to a strict p1 as don't seem to be suffering with cravings (Altho maybe that's what this is?) so have porridge and oat milk or rice cereal and rice milk for breakfast but then the rest of day is p1 as I'm dairy and wheat intolerant anyway! The oat milk really sweetened it up tho! Almond milk is p3 cheat as its nuts you can have coconut milk but that's with a fat meal! X

That's interesting . I read back and saw you did a York test . Was it accurate ?

Not quite sure yet. I've avoided it fine but then the binges at the weekend. I've been bloated etc probably because I've eaten milk choc and wheat etc. watch this space over next few weeks and it will tell x

I have always wondered whether to have one or not . Will see how you get on. As soon as I give up bread and rice my bloating subsides and just two days after doing low carb I feel slimmer

Aghhh! Went to pilates last night then came back and ate chocolate and a diet coke . So annoyed with myself . Glad those birthday chocs are nearly gone ! Also, think butternut squash gives me wind lol . They could have attached me to the national grid last night ! Hmm not happy discovered bns chips are good too :/ Anyway back at it again today . Homemade pork sausage for brekkie with onion omelette salad for lunch . Found some lamb in asda too - smart price, neck end and end of leg with bones . Made a lovely stew with celery, little chopped cabbage , carrots and onions so will devour that tonight . Does anyone get aching hips on this diet ? I always do when I go low carb , it's like bad toothache that won't go away. Going to take a couple of painkillers

Yeah wheat definitely bloats us. I will be having some pasta on Friday as we are out to a friends for dinner! I am trying to make sure that I don't have any dairy at least tho as the wheat was just a mild one! X

Oops!! Really? Maybe you have an intolerance to it then? Give it a few days and try again might just be nothing. Glad you're back at it! Just keep going you'll find the symptoms will ease off its just your body trying to get you to eat more sugar x

I know , I succumbed to chocolate last night after real bad cravings where I was almost hallucinating eating it before hand ! Seriously I could taste it before it got in my mouth lol. Evenings seem tonne the problem for me. I can get through all day at work and not even think about it but as soon as I relax the chocolate devil jumps on my shoulder !
