New starter!!!

I everyone, I'm new to minimins (for slimming world, did use it for dukan) and I am going to my first group meeting tonight!!! Just wanted to introduce myself and beg for any advice/tips/help anyone could offer me??? I know this is going to be a hard journey cause I have about 6 st plus to lose!!! I've tried everything and I am fine to begin with but always go off track!! Any tips on how to stay focussed???

When and why do you go off track? Have you figured that out - that's the first step to stopping it happening :)

SW Is great, you'll love it. It can allow you a little of what you fancy, and there's normally a variation of whatever it is you like to eat on slimming world. The key i think is planning. The journey won't be that hard if you are realistic with your goals, aim for 1-2 per week on average and enjoy the ride.... not all plans allow you yummy food like steak and chips :D

I used to start allowing my self treats for being so good which is stupid and I know that but I'd always be like 'what's a mars bar after I've lost nearly 2 stone!! Trouble is 1 leads to 2 and so on!!!

Last year I lost quite a bit on ww but then went in holiday and it went wrong, then I lost a stone on dukan in less than 3 weeks but couldn't keep it up!!! I haven't weighed myself but im pretty certain all the weight I lost is back on!!!

I'm looking forward to the freedom sw gives u and I'm hoping that all the stuff I have to learn will keep me busy, my partner is really supportive which is great!! I do like to have a drink at the weekend sometimes and I understand the syns will accommodate this to a certain degree!!!

That's the thing with SW, there's freedom and you don't need to go without. You can have treats, just make sure you stick within your syns. You can do all your food for free if you plan enough meaning you can save all your syns for treats if that's what you need to get you through ;) x

I'm sure you'll be fine once you've been to group and got your head around the fact you can eats loads and not feel hungry. Coming on here will help motivate you as well and the support is fantastic!

Best advice is stick to the plan. If you fall off the wagon then just draw a line under it and get back on it. SW has been around for over 40 years and the plans are tried and tested so it does work but give your body chance to get used to the different and healthier way of eating.

As Rkmriddell says aim for 1-2 lbs loss per week and that way you'll get used to eating differently and eventually smaller portions and you'll soon see results. Remember its a long term change in lifestyle and eating habits not a quick fix.

Don't worry too much about what you can't eat either. Take a look around the recipes section to see what foodie delights awaits you...all SW friendly! :drool: I mean where else can you have a full English breakfast and still lose weight...well with SW you can..:D.

Good luck with your weight loss journey and keep us updated on your losses. ;)

PS. The trick is to plan your shopping and your meals.
 
Thanks, ? I've actually got steak and chips as my 'last supper' tonight thinking it may be a while before I have it again, maybe not then!!! Woohoo!!

I normally have my shopping delivered on a Sunday but I put it off and I'm going to do it online tonight so I can order my sw friendly foods!!! I'm nervously excited about going to meeting tonight, I have everything crossed I can do it ???

You can have steak and chips on sw anyway tho, so you don't need to have it as a 'last supper' Just make sw chips and it's free :) enjoy
 
Yep - free foods as long as you have your superfree with it - you'll understand it all tonight :) have a read through the books and a good look round the forums - ask anything you're not sure about, everyone here is lovely.

You can definitely do it, you'll love it too :D x

Let us know how you get on at class tonight, as the others have said, the plan is great and still allows you to have a life which I think is the main thing!
 
Hi, the meeting went well I think!!! I'm really impressed with the plan and in full of the joys at the thought of starting it today!!! The thing I didn't like was one of the helpers (before she went to help) shouted I don't give a s**t about the plan now I only come to socialise and then when the leader telling me that she lost 8 stone when started but has put over 4 stone back on followed by but the plan really works!!! She blamed it on I'll health but whatever I'm going to give it a try either way and hopefully lose the weight and keep it off!!!! Unfortunately it's the only group in my area that suits my work life or I'd of been going to another!!!

Now I've got that off my chest it is time to focus on all the lovely positives about this plan, yummyyyyy ??
 
It definitely works - it's about the person. If you stick to plan you will lose weight. If you get complacent then it will start sneaking back on. Write everything down - it makes you really aware of what you're eating.

Have you decided on food for today? I've had porridge with fresh berries for breakfast, have an apple for a snack mid morning. Lunch time i'm going to do some chicken and vegetable rice for the kids and pack the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. I'm having the leftover bolognaise from last night with a baked spud and salad and some philadelphia. Then we're going to make some syn free pancakes to have with some fruit - might do that mid afternoon after i've taken them to the gym play session and do some for my nephew too. Then tonight i'm out for an indian :) yum..... diet? what diet? hahaha x
 
Oh no that was a bit of a disappointing class, hopefully it will improve but meantime you have the support of everyone on here too! :)
 
Oooo your foo sounds lovely!!! I've had beans on toast and some plums for breakfast, toying with either jacket spud or savoury rice (with chicken peppers onions and mushrooms) for lunch and I'm going to do a spag Bol for tea!!! I'm not sure how to put some syns in today, in sure everyone feels the same to start!! As I'm just starting I don't want to get in the habit of using syns for choc or biscuits, I'd rather do that on the days I'm desperate which I know will come!!! oh and I'll drink my hexa milk at some point, maybe tonight before dinner to fill me up!!!
 
I know I was a little upset tbh but I made the decision that I'll give it a month and if I get nothing from the group I will just do it online and go from there!!! I done ww online and done quite well till I went on holiday!!

Feel so positive today despite the group!! I hope it lasts ??
 
That's excellent you're feeling so positive, you will probably continue to feel like that too as the plan is excellent to follow and you don't feel like you're on a 'diet'
 
I'm the same - only had 1 syn yesterday. I've decided i'm counting down my syns weekly rather than using them daily though. I'll use quite a few tonight as i'm out for an indian and am about to use two on a hot chocolate as i'm freeeeeezing lol.

I'm not sure if I've said to you before but I think counting down the weekly syns is a good idea, think that would work really well for me - might try that this week :)
