Hi all.
Thought i could do with a bit of support now, on day 6 actually finding it ok and not to bad.... day 5 was the worse i felt.
Can already see i have lost a bit of weight and already i feel much better and confident. Get to see how much i have lost tomorrow.

This diet seems to have loads of mixed reviews and i only want to lose a couple of stone and keep it off, but i have just been reading that it is virtually impossable to keep off the weight.... so thought here is the better place to be and ask?

Any information would be great, i am going to carry on reading all your stories :)

Hi and welcome,

This diet is the same as any other when you reach goal, if you go back to eating as you did before you started then you will no doubt put weight on. You have to change your way of eating to healthier choices.

Check out the maintenance threads for more info as there are a few on their who have been maintaining for a long while.

Thankyou, ive already realised that my downfall is boredom eating and eating out of habit, and thats just in 5 days so hopefully by july my attitude towards food will have totally changed.

Going to stick around here where i can get more support.

That was my problem too.

You will def get lots of support on here, without everyone on here im not sure i'd have made it so far! :)

As Lis says, maintaining is down to you. No more sausage rolls and steak bakes for me for lunch, grazing on chocolate hob nobs all day long and scoffing family-sized bags of Dorritos and Kettle chips without even thinking out of boredom in the evening, even AFTER I've eaten my dinner. I no longer snack in the evenings and have no intention of going back to that habit once I've finished this now I've managed to break it. I'm not on commission I promise but you may want to check out a book 'The Harcombe Diet' which is the most sensible diet book I've come across in a long time. It makes so much sense. I intend to follow the rules of this diet once I've lost to maintain. You can get it on Amazon. Good luck, you'll lose your 2st in no time.

welcome aboard.... as all the other guys say, stay on here for support... it defo got me thru the tough days... and when you look at all the stats and weightloss its incredible.... exactly as said on here if you come off this diet and continue as was well then you're right back to square one.... this diet does make you so aware of where you were goin wrong.... like cate says i wouldve scoffed a big bag of crisps whilst on ebay and would not have even noticed!!!!!!!! So get re-educatin and try and establish your downfalls.... good luck!

Hi,

I did LT last year, for 6 weeks and lost 2 stone, easy, but then went back to my old eating habits and have regained all the weight and more since, I started again yesterday, and am determined to get if off and keep it off this time!

I think if you are very careful during the week, you can afford to relax a bit more at weekends, once your in maintanence phase.

Thanks all its greta to hear everyones stories and how well everyone has done, i do know that i cant go back to scoffing what ever i want when i want, and i think because i havent had food i will appreciate it more now and i have found a new love for cooking.

Hello Mummyof1 and welcome!
I have not done this sort of diet before but have tried many others and I am a fair bit of weight down than I used to be which stays off pretty much by itself bar the odd half a stone that goes up and down.... and with that I used to eat too much choc, biccies and a bad diet of snacking thru boredom, stress, excitment, contentment.. you name it... and I still maintained my weight near enough... I used to be 19 stone and god knows how much I used to have to pile in to get to that weight! Booze was the difference back then, I would have 3 bottles of wine on a night out - one in the bath before I even got out!! terrible, couldnt do it now and wouldnt want to...

I too have been told that this diet slows u down so much you regain, but then the stories on here reassure me otherwise... I just think in my own mind I know I was SO miserable fat that if it means starving myself for the rest of my life and only eating one meal a day then this is what I will do to retain my happiness! Extreme but very true...! I feel so much happier alredy with about a stone off.. i wont ever go back to that other person no matter what it takes...

good luck on your journey and this board is fab, oddles of boredom time to chat with and everyone is so friendly.. they got me thru a tough few days back in the beginning!

Thanks for that, you have done so well already. Like you i have tried other diets, in fact i have left ww to start this one because while food is there to be eaten i just used to cheat and take advantage of that and try to kid myself that it was ok and wouldnt stop me losing weight. This time its different.
I know people must look at my bmi and stuff and think what you moaning about you dont have that much to lose, but for me it as already effected my life so much. I used to be a happy size 10, socialising life and soul of the party, met my partner, children etc etc then before i know it i was wearing 16 and just so unhappy to the extent that i dont want to be out in social events, cry when im out shopping for clothes and constantly dream of being slim so for me its about getting the old me back and being happy like i used to be and like you said if that means being on this forever then so be it (as long as my hair doesnt fall out....lol) i wish you the best of luck........ soooo sorry for the life story i all just spilled out....lol

Dont worry, this group is almost like a therapy... we all have our moments... ! I know what you mean, its not what weight you have, its what it takes from you in terms of your life and enjoyment... I still feel the same at a size 16ish.... have once been a tight size 28 LOL but back then I felt alright in myself believe it or not and was the life n soul.... cant explain it properly as my own brain doesnt understand why I feel terrible now having acheived what I have... but its all about body image as well as they weight i think.... once you correct one the other should follow. I knew I had to tackle the weight/eating bit first and hoped the rest would follow, and in just 2 weeks its already doing that by itself.... and as for the shopping, I have that all of the time.. I am bottom heavy, all thighs.. its awful! Shopping for clothes has been hell since I was about 13... I am already out of the Evans shop but cant wait to be able to go to top shop etc! I went to Matalan yesterday to try on a long skirt and automatically picked up a size 18 thinking it would look bettter if not tight.. took a 16 'just incase; and never thought it would fit as it was a fitted waist band... the 18 fell down and the size 16 was even large on me...! Was well chuffed...! BUT had that been a pair of trousers I would need the next size up to allow for the chunky thighs!!! LOL!

We can do it your right.
Im the opposite have to buy smaller bottoms, but i have the round tummy which never went after kids and then grew and grew....lol. So i have always bought bigger tops most of the time 16's which are to big and i have only just realised how much bigger they make me look. Must stop buying clothes to hide myself will be a target for me as the weight continues to come off.
WOW you really have done amazing, you must feel a totally different you from once being a size 28 to now. I just want to be at a size i feel comfy at and maintain it, i dont want my daughter growing up and seeing me on diet after diet and being unhappy, i dont want her to feel like she ever has to worry about weight as i have all my life (even when i was a size 10) theres to much pressure on young girls that effects them forever......... and look here i go ranting again....lol

We can do this your right :)

Hiya Mummy1. I am also trying to lose AND KEEP OFF 2 stone. THis is week 3 for me. I lost 7 lbs first week and then 6 lbs. Its amazing. Not easy though but like you, I find it very hard to have a little of this and a little of that etc.I know I will have to go back to eating food and managing it but I'm hoping that some of my behaviours will have changed. Best of luck.

I know for me that stress is toxic when it comes to my diet so that's something I always have to keep an eye on!
