Extra Easy New to SW - and internet forums! - feeling out there and little lost

Hi All,

I'm new to internet forums. I normally just read and research other peoples stories / advice etc.

So this year has been a complete change of life for me. My partner has been unable to work and it was down to me to go out there and get the money rolling in. I landed a full time local job that I really enjoy. I have gone from not "having" to work too "oh my if I don't work we don't have any thing.!!

My man (of 10 years) finally popped the question and we have arranged the date (deposit paid) for our special day and I HAVE to lose some weight.
I'm really not good at sticking to things, although so far this year I have managed to keep a job lol - only because I had to though. If it was down to choice I'm sure I wouldn't still be here just because of my lack of commitment I'm sure.

I have decided to give Slimming World ago, I'm due to register Wednesday morning. I have tried the online option before but as I'm useless at sticking to any thing I didn't do very well on it. I'm quite competitive and I'm hoping I can find some one to challenge as this seems to be what keeps me motivated.
Where there's a challenge I seem to stick to things better.

I find it really hard to picture myself in the future thinking yes i'll get there, I normally think along the lines of oh don't worry about it what will be will be.
There have been so many times when I wanted to lose weight and didn't bother then I feel really down and sluggish when I reach the date and I'm just the same. It's pure laziness and i'm really trying ways to retrain / reprogram my ways.

I'm thinking along the lines of hey, yeah I have changed, I never kept a job before - I have now, I never kept a diary before - I'm starting one now.
This year is a new me I can do this - It's the one day in my life that all eyes will be on me and I would love love love to look great. I just seem to lack the passion.

Any help / advice / challenges welcome this way.........

It looks like you are making concrete efforts to change your life and that is good...once you begin to move forward with a purpose the passion will come as you begin to see the results.

Hello and welcome, you get the book with your pack included with your membership, there are other books you can buy if you want like recipe books and a food directory with syns listed in there for branded products but this is optional really as the book you get with the pack has all the basics and anything else you can look up on their website once you are a member.

The one tip I can give you as someone who struggles to stick to things is the 21 day rule... it takes 21 days to make a new habit stick, so every 21 days try to create a new healthy habit to help keep you on the straight and narrow. It's only one thing to focus on, and there's an end date to challenge yourself towards, but by the end date you won't want to stop anyway because it'll be habit ;) You could try 21 days of having fruit as part of every meal, or 21 days of going for a walk at lunchtime, or 21 days of drinking your full 8 glasses of water a day, anything you like.

Today is the day isn't it? Good luck! Hope your first meeting goes well. I'm recently engaged and wanting to lose weight for the wedding too, I reckon we've got the motivation we need to do it.
