    Hello all!

Iv been reading this forum for a few days before deciding to take the plunge and start the programme on friday. I had my frist day on the diet today and I can't say it hasn't been tough. My life revolves around food in everyway...if im bored i eat, if i socialise i eat, if i do an activity ie watch a film, play a game i need nibbles to go with it!

Everything today has been about food so I have found it very hard to take my mind off it and tonight I have just wanted to give in and order a chinese!BUT instead of doing that I thought I would post a message on here to just have reassurance Im not the only one struggling and then I'll probably take myself off to bed withj a peppermint tea and try to sleep and forget about the hunger!

I got up very early this mroning for a bootsale and didnt want a shake that early as I was worried I wouldnt last the day, so I had a pint of water to take with me and came back at 11am to a strawberry shake. I have to say it was one of the most revolting things I have ever tasted - it was like drinking puree'd cardboard mixed with oats! However I had my chocolate one at lunctime mixed with a shot of expresso and I have to say that wasnt so bad .. does anyone else find they can't always manage the whole shake because it's quite sickly? Thats what I found at lunchtime.
I braved it out until 5.30pm to have my soup ... not that impressed but I think it could have been worse...although the more I thought about the fact that would be my dinner for the next 2 months every single night...the worse it made me feel!

Im doing a 10 mile hike tomorrow as training for a charity 82 mile walk Im doing in September and as it will only be my 2nd day on LT does anyone have any advice or tips on things I can do to keep healthy and not collapse from exhaustion considering I wont be having carbs to give me the energy I might need. Walking 10 miles I normally burn well over 1500 calories.

IM excited about the end result of this diet and am inspired by other peoples story's on this forum .. and I just know thats going to be the only thing thats going to keep me going!!

Im sure I'll be posting a lot more in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks to everyone already for being so inspiring...14stone weigh in yesdterday....10 stone here I come!

I would highly recommend you put off that hike for a few weeks. You can exercise while on LT but you have to take things easy to begin with. I'm afraid you might collapse or something today. I know this is too late really as you are probably already out walking as I type this.

Ease yourself into exercise and listen to your body, you really must take things easy to begin with.

Good luck with your LT journey and I look forward to reading about your first weigh in.

Also, you may well find you get used to the flavours! I really had to force them down, but now, at the end of week one I'm finding I quite like a couple of the flavours! I do wonder if our tastebuds ubdergo a bit of a re-education too!

Hello all...thanks for your concern - they kind of mirrored my own concerns but I have let my walking partner down so much and always have genuine excuses about why I cant do my training walks that I couldnt bear saying "well I'v just started a liquid diet and I dont want to risk any exercise!"

Regardless, I went on my walk but you will all be pleased that I cut it down to just 5 miles. I had my first shake at 11am just before I left and I have tons of water while I was out, however I have just got home at 3.30pm and there are TEARS and lots of them. Im so hungry adn I came home to a house smelling of food after my partner just cooked her dinner and Im just so hungry and feeling very very sorry for myself. I feel lathargic, no energy, stroppy and snappy and all I want is some food to make me feel better.

Im going to have my 2nd shake of the day in a minute and make a mint choc one as seen suggested on here...but theres just nothing taking my mind off my desire for food.

Also, I went on the wii fit this morning and on 6/aug which was friday morning my weight was 14.4 and this morning I got on and it says 11.9!!! which is all good and well but surely 10Ibs in 2 days is a bit much! I only started the diet on saturday morning...friday night I had a "last supper" ..

I need some reassurance ... and some willpower - and lots of it!

    xxxx thanks everyone xxxx

Also...Im definitely loving the choc mocha shakes that I make! mmmmm ... I'll report back on my mint choc one - I have a choc mint leaf plant in the garden so Im going to throw a couple of those into the mix....I hope Ketosis kicks in soon...not sure how much longer I can go feeling this hungry and down. :-(

Oh poor Woody - the first week is really tough. Plan plenty of distractions and drink plenty of water - it does get better. I'm just finishing my first week and my hunger is rapidly subsiding.

WRT the exercise I think if you're used to it it's probably less of a problem than starting a new program from scratch. My pharmacist told me not to do anything for the first week, but I did a 4.5 mile walk this morning (day 7) and it almost killed me - my legs were like lead. Normally I'm a good walker, and my brain I thought I could zip along at my usual pace - my body said otherwise! ;)

Good luck for the days ahead, post plenty here, everyone is so positive and encouraging, and there is SUCH a depth of knowledge about LT - I wouldn't have got through my first week without them. :)

so have you kicked into ketosis yet? get the ketostix from chemist to check... they hunger pangs are greatly eased after you are in ketosis. should be around day3-4... first week is bloody hard! second week is easier, after that it should be second nature and a heck of a lot easier, and when you start to se the results your urges to cheat will be much much much less... its just getting over the first week or 2.... and yep the hakes are not nice! although ive got into ice cold strawberry this last week, and hot chocolate with decaff coffee of an evening. us guys have to have a larger one than you so spare a thought!, anbd yep it is hard to get it all down sometimes LOL...

Thanks Radical1...Im not sure if IM in Ketosis yet if IM honest. I think the psychological factors of this diet sometimes mask the physical ones so Im not too sure if Im finding it easier because I just know the diet will be good for me or whehter Im in Ketosis - I think I might pop to the chemist to change my strawberry shakes for another flavour so I'll get some Ketosis sticks while Im there to see. I do feel less hungry today and my tummy isn't rumbling ... but that doesnt mean I dont have the urge to eat everything in sight!

    Hi All,

I was meant to start last Wednesday but i was ill! So got up this morning feeling 100% better so had my first moosey thing, each mouthful i took made my heave!!! It went something like this:
Mouth, heave, water, mouth, heave, water, mouth, heave, water. In the end i was saying only 4 more mouthfuls! Im determined to do this no matter what. has anybody got any ideas what i can do with the vanilla one to make it a little more non heavey? Only got this one cos i hate strawberry and chocolate flavoured things.

Hey Kit...Im only day 3 and can feel your pain! Personally I havent had the vanilla one as I have heard mixed reviews but I hate the strawberry one and will be going to the chemist later to change them for vanilla...even after your horror story! Hey...at least you were getting your water intake ;-)

I definitely think the shakes are made better in a blender with lots and lots of ice. I make my chocolate ones with either a shot of coffee to make an iced mocha OR I make a cup of peppermint tea, let it cool then chuck that in with the powder and lots of ice in the blender - very tasty, like a chocolate aero!

There are lots of people with ideas of how to make the "meals" more bearable so you should find a few ideas.

personally, my way of making them bearable is to be on this forum while Im drinking them! Reminds me of why Im doing it!

Good luck Kit - can't wait to hear about your first weigh in.
