Im am at the end of my tether!

I moved last September into a property that the gas and electric provider was British Gas, I had previously been with NPower.

British gas said I would have to pay them until my services were changed to NPower. I arranged for them to be changed by NPower, but then British Gas talked me into staying with them....

So, Ive now had bills from both of them and dont know if they are right!??? I am so confused, everyone says their company is cheaper, how do I know if I am getting a good deal??

I wish Id never changed over now but if I change again, Im just going to make things worse.

i would work it out.. i used to work for a Gas and Electric compny.. and i can gurantee to you BG is NOT cheaper.. it lowered its prices last year. which is great.. yeah? but they forget to tell you they put it up 6 times in the last 2 years.. I MEAN.. SIX..
Find a company who doesnt charge standing fees.. (cos these are stupid).. also go for a company who isnt your local energy provider.. for example.. i live in the north east.. therefore i wouldnt be with N power.. because they would charge me more for gas and electric than for example.. southern electric.. If you're a high energy user.. go for a company who give you percentage discounts.. but if not.. go for a company who have set discounts.. Ideally pay by Direct Debit.. as you get discounts for this.. if your interested in collecting things.. like.. Nectar points.. or those tesco points you can find one which will fit in and gain more just for custom..
i hope this has helped..

also.. i would always be wary about tying myself into a contract.. as this is quite a cheap trick..

Oh thankyou for your quick reply, knew there would be someone knowledgeable on here :p

So if I live in the South, would NPower be a good one to be with? Not sure if they charge a standing charge or not?

can i have your postcode.. and i can have a look? if you dont wanna thats cool.. or wanna send it in a PM.. so it isnt broadcasted on the net..
also for anyone else reading this.. dont use those online things that find the best deal.. most of them are sponsered by the gas and electric companies.. and get a lot of money if they give certain companies.. you know.. to say the least it isnt exactly accurate..
