Oatbran Granola

    If you, like me fancy a change from breakfast porridge...

    ** note this makes TWO day's worth **

    Oatbran quantity given for cruise / conso, adapt for attack.

    4 TB Oatbran
    2 TB Wheatbran
    1 Egg
    1 TB granular sweetener (possibly more)
    a few drops vanilla flavouring

    Mix all together well. Spread the crubly mixture onto baking tray lined with silicone liner / baking parchment.

    Bake in the oven at 200C Fan for about 10-15 minutes. It will start to brown at the sides, check and stir every 5 minutes.

    Once it's coloured a bit, is crunchy and dry, take out and cool on the tray. Store in an airtight container.

    The sweetener quantity may need adjusting to taste, this version is not very sweet and works well if you're having it in sweetened yoghurt.

    Yum. Just made this.

    Anja I added a little cinnamon and nutmeg. Also half way through cooking I took it out and crumbled it further in my hands.

    This would be lovely with yoghurt and rhubarb.

    Oh wow, adding cinnamon and nutmeg is inspired, Bren! Great recipe, Anja. I shall definitely be trying this very soon.

    Tried to turn this into biscuits, made about 20 balls (do-able with wet hands) and flattened them to digestive biscuit thickness (not size). That was still TOO THICK, so they're not crunchy in the middle. Baking time was about the same.

    I don't mind a slightly softer biscuit, like fresh-baked cookies, so might enjoy these. Thanks again, Anja!
