Oh wow, does she have any veggies on the side? Maybe have some of them and push the potato bake around the plate....I don't know, if it were me and my mates I would tell them I couldn't eat it, you're only starting off, you don't want to ruin your hard work! You'll know for again to tell her you're on Dukan and you need protein! x

Tell her however much you'd love to have it, that it's really important that you don't alter your diet right now as you've just started out and are doing really well and don't want to jeopardise it!

Good luck, this can be a difficult one but hopefully she'll understand.

I think it went ok, or as well as I could have done it! The dinner was: Rock cod (I think) in bread crumbs, anchovy and potato bake, and cabbage. So I ate the cabbage, picked out the anchovies, ate the cod (and a tiny bit of breadcrumbs I have to admit) and pretended to be full! Then dessert was lime and chocolate cream pie, so I just took a tiny piece, and just ate some of the cream and not the chocolate crust.

Good damage limitation I think?? xx

Sounds like you did a good job in the circumstances

In that situation I would be upfront and say that you're on a diet and that, if they don't mind, you'll just eat the fish and green veg and skip on pudding. A friend couldn't possibly object to that. The other option is to pick what you can out, but then you run the risk of your friend thinking that you just don't like it very much.

Honesty is the best policy IMO - people are generally supportive of people they know dieting (unless they have some personal issues and want to sabotage everyone else's efforts)

One of my sisters is a total sabotager! If I tell her I'm dieting forget about it, she'll do anything in her power to feed me or sway me.... but if it was my friends, who all know I'm dieting, they are super-supportive! A real friend will always give you a hand with what you're doing, and after all that's part of being a friend isn't it. I'd definitely have skipped dessert but understand that that was a tough situation... fingers crossed for your weigh in x

It's not quite as clear cut as all that - my friend is just a confirmed SWer, so I wouldn't like to be seen as a mad case for not eating fruit or carbs...! Easier to eat what I can.

Oh my absolute best friend is on SW, she's done wonderfully well and it suits her life and tastes but it's not for me... Too much weighing and measuring! When we eat together I make meatballs or chicken and she has hers with some carbs and I have mine with salad!

Yeah I lost 4.5 stone with SW, then put 1.5 back on - I got too comfortable with it and kept cheating, binging etc... I needed something stricter so I came onto Dukan :)

I'm exactly the same, I didn't try SW even though my friend lost 2.5stone on it I just know myself too well, if I'm given the option to have carbs I will do it to excess!!! At least we're aware of it ;)

I tried SW - lost 7lbs in about 12 weeks - and then started gaining again - was just hopeless for me. I was never hungry - but I didn't lose weight either.

And how are you getting on with this Teddy?! You have no info in your user stats but I presume you're doing better on DD? I can't believe how effective this diet is, feel like I've unlocked some secret!

I've got this app on my iPhone so can't see how add anything - just says I don't have permissio !

I have lost just over 7.5lbs - have 40 to lose in total so definitely only the beginning of the journey.

Will be fully 4 weeks on duet on Tuesday - started 13th Sept.

I'm exactly the same; my downfall is bread....if it's a fresh, crusty loaf I just don't stop until it's gone. My ME specialist once told me that she believes the one food we're most addicted to is the food that is usually the one our bodies are least able to cope with. I think there is something in that because although I go mental for bread, once I've had it I feel bloated and icky.

Me too, my downfalls are home made breads and also cheese!!! Can't stay away from them and if I'm allowed them I'll go nuts but wheat and yeast are my enemies! Luckily my other addiction is MEAT :) Thank the Lord we're allowed meat on this... I'd never survive without it!
