Better to Drink your Syns
Today at about eleven o'clock the Olympic Torch will pass through my town, Merthyr Tydfil, and I just thought it would be interesting to follow it's journey via us MiniMins members.

It's near me on Monday and Tuesday, I was sled to do some work on the security for the party in Bangor on Monday night x

I just can't get at all excited about it. Not even sure where it's coming near here

I couldn't care less either, but am taking the kids to see it on Friday when it comes to us, on account of it being a once in a lifetime sort of thing.

It comes near here on 9th July. I am looking forward to seeing it.

11th June, it's about 35 miles from me... I'm going to see it, I'll never get another chance to :D

We had it in Plymouth last weekend - I saw it on the Sunday x

I won't have to travel :D It passes right under my office window on the 25th June :D I might buy a flag and go outside! lol

It passes by us literally along the road next to ours, June 25th or 26th I think. Me and other half have the day off work for it as our schools are closed, but little one is in (his school is right along the route) they've said we can bring him out to see it if we want though

Well, we went to see it today, and actually, it was really good fun, albeit over with VERY quickly. The atmosphere was lovely. We were stood at the very last visible point on this side of the Mersey, it was being taken on the ferry over to Liverpool by a blind chap who was waiting right by us to be lit. I managed not to punch the annoying man next to us who kept leaning so far into the barrier ribbon to try and see better that he was virtually blocking the path. A lady runner brought it down to the blind chap, lit his torch, and he was escorted into the ferry terminal and then it was taken off over the river on the ferry, which tooted it's horn nicely for the crowds. Nice bit of body magic balancing a nearly-six-year-old on my shoulders for 20 minutes waiting for it to show up, the weather was nice, and I am really glad we did it - after all, it is the closest we are going to get to the Olympics and it is unlikely to ever happen again in mine or my kids lifetimes.

I don't support this or seeing it, I am anti it and even looking at the title of the website it is all about London!!! What a waste of money and the fact that it is not even visiting the first place where the orginal olymics was held in Wenlock in UK.

So, that is obiously where the name of Wenlock came from for the official mascot!

Learn something new, every day ;)

One of my friends is running with it. Sue O Hara, here in sunny Eastbourne. She lost her beloved daughter to leukaemia a few years ago and Sue and her hubby Frank worked tirelessly to raise money or a teenage room which wold help them ping though chemo. She tragically lost her lovely husband to a heart attack few years later and yet his courageous woman still fund raises instantly. She is an inspiration.
