[OT] Lunar Jim Can't Drive...

Arse...

It was raining this morning and we were running late so drove the kids to school this morning.

To cut a long story short I was pulled out on another car when leaving my parking space. It was a bit of a WTF did you come from moment, I'd checked my mirror before checking ahead and pulling out so can't account for that one. Far be it for me to accuse the other party of going too fast or anything silly like that.

Anyway, the damage it has done is staggering. It rubbed the wax off the other car and put a 5mm chip in the paint. Damage to my car: zero.

I'd hope to sort it out myself via one of those invisible repair specialists. Hopefully that fact it is a little red sports car and the owner's 'pride and joy' isn't going to mean they'll be awkward or anything.

FFS, it's the first time I've hit another vehicle in 20 years, what a stupid way to do it...

At least no-one was hurt (except maybe your pride) and no major damage to cars. I wrote ours off this year and we only had 1 car and we live in a village. DH had to cycle to work (6 miles each way) and I couldn't get anywhere and relied on other people to take DD to pre-school. We bought the first car we could the following weekend and a 2nd not long after. It was a pig of a week.

oh poor you
shakes you up doesn`t it
i hope the other person is o.k and not to harsh on you
fingers crosses that the matter can be resolved without to much hassle or expense
:patback:

Opps!

I must admit it's horrible. For that split second you wish you could press a rewind button and go back......

It can be quite shocking too.

Never mind.. nobody was hurt. At least your looking good now! :p

Material things are not really that important in the scheme of things.

Yeah, I just feel like a tit really. Nowhere near as bad as what happened to you. I could just do without the arse about I know will be coming....

Ah, I've been in worse when I was a 17 year old boy racer (head on into traffic light, sideways into lamp post, span down a hump back bridge etc. doh...) so I'm not actually that bothered about the damage as such. I just feel like a bit of a nob and it's gonna be hassle, I just know it.

I just hope that I can convice them to let me pay for it, based on the fact that a chips away company could do it tomorrow, whereas it'd be ages on the insurance...

There really isn't anything to it, if it were at the race track we'd call it a 'sticker rub' and probably just leave it...

oh i desperately hope it all gets solved smoothly Jim! That's just sod's bloody law! :(

xx

fingers crossed for you honey i ripped off my bumper off on a concrete post in a car park after someone parked to close to my car making it difficult for me to get out I was so worried abotu hitting thier car, it is just crap having to 1. Tell the other half 2. sort it out to be fixed.

I hope it goes smoothly for you xx

Yeah, it's pants. My OH was in the car with me so at least she knows what happened :D Only she's never made a damage claim in her life so not good lol

Heh maybe :D

Actually, when I've looked at the pictures I've taken the damage looks more like a stone chip rather than a paint rub. I've got loads of experience with sticker and paint rubs from the race car; a paint rub tends to have smooth sides and the damage area tends to correspond with the shape of the car part that hit it; my front wing is quite bulbous and smooth so it sould have done a large rub to get all the way to the plastic, rather than a small chip which would need an angular impact. Also you tend to get paint traded onto the other car, mine was completely clear and damage-free.

I've probably thought too much about this, but what do you think:

So with this in mind I'm taking further advice...

Oh dear Jim...I hope you make it through all the hassles and don't have to sit on the 'errant drivers' naughty step too long!!!!

Sorry to hear about the prang. I hope that we all didn't get too distracted from Sunday night's talk of the unmentionable ba**ffXX p$?
Glad that nobody is hurt.
