My understanding is that it's free if you're eating it as part of a meal, but that the issues arise if you're snacking on things like this as you'll be increasing your calorie intake quite significantly by doing that.
I make syn free quiche and have it for my lunch with super-free soup, and don't have any problems. In that context I think it's the same as eating eggs, meat, veg and cottage cheese on a plate for your lunch! But you wouldn't normally snack on pasta and quiche.
Hope that makes sense! I don't think it's a "tweak", just one of those things you have to be careful not to overeat.
