Has anyone used this before or made it?

I was watching rivercottage the other day and it was made up with chilli and garlic then left to cool - chopped into slices and friend, served with veg - looked lovely!

i checked syns online and it's 3&1/2 syns per 100g (hope thats right!) but if you were to buy to make up yourself,it does warn you on the packet that it 'can bubble volcanically' and as my cooker is on it's last legs,i dunno whether the already made stuff would be worth getting.

anyone tried it?

Last time I checked polenta was 5 syns per 28g. it used to be free but then people started using it to make cakes and muffins and SW changed it. There is a recipe on here for cornbread that is great with a chilli. It's very tasty so well worth a try. I sometimes have the ready made stuff with breakfast as well.

It's the pre-made stuff that's 3.5 syns per 100g. The dried stuff is 4.5 for 28g:

Polenta, whole grain, 25g dried 4½
Polenta, whole grain, ready to use, 100g cooked 3½

That's on EE/Green

I like the pre-made stuff sliced and layered up with peppers, onions, mushrooms and some mozzarella from your HEXA, sprayed with fry light and baked in the oven. Finish with a dash of reduced balsamic vinegar and serve with a leafy salad. Lovely.

.Early 2010 (approx as I am not home at present) so I have to buy new hard backed books every couple of years????
Wish they would make up their minds especially when these books are not cheap and I do not use it to make cakes etc - just use it as a grain with a meal.
I have quite a lot of S.W. hard backed recipe books so how many of these recipes are they going to change - suppose SW excuse is we should go to class or pay online then I would know.

Not aimed at anyone - just having a rant as pretty annoyed as I use it often.:)

They're not going to change the recipe books are they. The plan will change every so often, they are a business after all.
You only need the latest food optimising book which comes in the starter pack and then you will know the syns of every basic ingredient and can calculate the syns of any recipe in the known universe :)
You can try to pick one up off ebay but youre probably better off turning up at a class and getting the starter pack for less than a tenner and not going back.
If you want to use the polenta then use it, its not gonna break the syn bank anyway. Im having a polenta recipe later this week (polenta tian in feta crust), Im not really bothered if I have to count it as syns on or not, Im eating the damn thing anyway :D

.Just having a rant as I never looked to syn polenta when it said it was free on Green in Optomising book - polenta is a grain which would not change in any way - not like - a processed food which changes whenever the manufacturer feels like it i.e. Muller light is it?
I did ask on fourms what happens at first attended class as we will be back in UK soon and going to join class for the 6 weeks we will be there so will get the books. Polenta I will continue to use as I do now - if pasta and rice are free then polenta once a fornight is not going to lose me any sleep.
ebay for slimming world books - very overpriced - cheaper on Amazon usually with free postage.
