hi everyone... im a newbie... was just wondering if anyone can tell me is red pesto free or do i count it in my syns??

Its 1 syn per 20 calories if theres no free food allowance. Shop-bought soups and sauces, things in pastry, some junk food are some of the things that dont qualify for a free food allowance. (As well as obviously things that dont contain free food anyway )

Sacla sun dried tomato pesto

its telling me in my book that red pesto sause is 2.5 syns for 1 level tbsp... i know i keep checking but i just want to make sure as i love pesto on pasta.
on the back of the jar the readings are:
190g Jar
values per 100g
energy 1252kj/303kcal
pro 4.3g
carb 5.6g
ows 4.9g
fat 29.g
ows 4.2g

so is the book right??? i know i could use the syn calculator but i just seem to do it properly.... thank you

You don't need to use the syn calculator as it is listed on syns online

Or as said, 1 syn for every 20 calories works out at the same answer

Yes both the book and the 1 syn per 20 calories rule are right.

A tbsp is 15g, so if 100g is 303kcal:

303 x 0.15 = 45.45
45.45/20 = 2.2725
Rounded up = 2.5 syns
