Refeed question

    Can you put weight on if you dont eat enough callorias a day. Im looking at 1500 a day and I think that Im putting weight on

    yep.

    have been logging my food, not gone above 1500 cals. have this week been doing 2 maintanice products a day plus a salad with ham & balsamic. with fruit and 50g of fruit & nut mix.

    jumped on scales this morning and was 21S 8lbs that would be up 4lbs.????????

    hmmm.. what time did you get on the scales at? and had you eaten anything??

    This is really strange...

    How many calories are in the maintence products?

    The first couple of weeks on refeed my Pharmacist said you could have a small gain or stay the same. I stayed the same after week 1, but have lost 1lb for the last 2 weeks.

    It is possible to gain weight in the first couple of weeks, but this should straighten itself out, I cant see you gaining with 1500 calories though.

    Try googling calories per day for your height and weight now. Are you still trying to lose or maintaining?

    Basel metobolic calculator for my weight hieght and age comes out at 3325. and I would like to continue to lose weight

    I think I read some where that whilst maintaining our weights will fluctuate whilst we experiment with what foods our bodies can take without putting weight on..

    It seems like there are alot of carbs in the maintanence products.. Maybe it could be carbs that mostly effect your weight then?

    Do you still go to your Pharmacist for weekly weigh ins or are you doing it yourself?

    I am calorie counting and I want to maintain my weight, so I am sticking to 1200 calories at the moment, (give or take a few) if I continue to lose I will up the calories to 1300 a day for the following week, if I continue to lose I will up them to 1400 a day for the following week.

    If I was you, I would weigh myself once a week, same time, same clothes etc and keep a diary of your weight. If you are maintaining the weight, then reduce the calories by 100 per day for the following week until you are losing. Once you are at target, then up them again.

    To be honest, I dont think 1500 is enough calories for you, as you have finished your re-feed, and you can risk storing fat if you are not eating enough calories, as your body can cling onto the reserves. Although it sounds silly, you could be gaining by not eating enough. Another good thing to do is introduce 2-3 healthy snacks between your 3 meals, as this will help with your metabolism, it will keep it going.

    Are you posting your daily menu's on the board? Try posting them so that people with a little more experience can have a look.

    Ask advice from KD as well, she is well up on all of this, I have found her a great help and inspiration.

    Kared. wa think the same thing that I was not eating enough to stimulate my metabolism. but Cant get it out of my head that im eating to much. will update my diary and maybe I can get more advice on what im doing wrong

    I am trying to eat pots or bread each day, I use wholemeal bread or pitta bread. I too have the feeling that I am gaining weight, but I have actually lost 1lb this week and also last week.
    I dont really know what to suggest as its all trial and error with me at the moment too, but I know where your fears are stemming from.

    I will send a link to kd's profile page shortly for you, really she has been very good advising me and helping and I do value her opinion. I will look for her details now to send to you.
