Samphire

I bought some samphire from Asda earlier, having never seen or tasted it before. Any hints or tips on how to cook it or what to serve it with?
 
Am I wrong in thinking this is a type of seaweed? Anything I can find suggests serving it with fish and it should be (very) lightly boiled in salted water and used as a 'bed' for the main dish. I'd be interested to hear what it's like?!
