Hello

I am seeing our doctor on Wednesday about being prescribed a diet pill. The receptonist said i will be weighed, then will be left 2 weeks to loose weight myself at home to prove i can then i will be prescribed a pill.

I just wondered what pill is usually prescribed by doctors, are there side effects and how does it work??

Thank you in advance for any advice or help. I just would like to know a bit about it from peeps who use them before i go in to see the doctor wednesday X

At my docs, we had discussed a while ago about having the tablets. After a few weeks of thinking about it i went back and told her that i wanted them. She weighed me there and then and gave me the prescription. I went back every 2 weeks for 8 weeks to get weighed so that i could be logged. I now go monthly to get weighed and new prescription.

The tablets are called Orlistat or Xenical. They are the same things.

its true the only time you should have the side effects is if you eat out ot the rules. the tablets are safe and they do work!

come and join us here if you get them, we'll try to help as much as we can.

Thank you all. I have seen the GP already who suggested the tablets. At the time i said i would think about it but as soon as i got home i knew i def want them. So i have to see the nurse practioner on wednesday who will weigh me and start me. I am hoping that as i have already lost half a stone in last 2 weeks they might let me have the tablets on Wed as i am really motivated to get started now! :D

Thank you Bunny Hops. I have been cutting out snacks and cutting food portions to make a start.

I did do Cambridge Diet last year and lost 5 stones in 4 months but have put it all back on plus more. But really want to gain control over my eating habits once and for all

xenical helps by making you think about what you are eating and helps you to makes good food choices,i think it would be great to use after doing cd as part of re feeding..im planning on doing cd for a bit soon.. then returning to or continuing with xenical!

Cambridge diet is very effective and loses are quick but is a very hard diet especially if your doing sole source. I lost 5 stone in 4 months on it but just cannot get back into it again plus it seem to aggrivate up my gallstones when i am on it.
