Shin Beef Ideas

I LOVE Shin Beef, totally takes me back to when I was little and my mam used to make it for me! Other than simple stewing with (jar) Bovril gravy has any one else got any other ideas? Even just some ideas on different veggies to stew with?

Cut it into cubes. In a large bowl, put the meat, a chopped onion, a few cloves of garlic, sliced carrots, a chopped parsnip or any rooty veggie you have to hand. Add 250mls red wine and leave it overnight to marinate. (8.5 syns for the wine but the dish will feed 6 to 8 people)
The next day, put into a pot. Heat up with a small tin of tomato puree, 250mls beef stock, herbs and seasoning. Either tip the lot into a slow cooker and leave to cook all day, or tip it into a casserole dish and cook in a low oven for 4 to 5 hours. Serve with noodles, mashed potato or pureed root veggies, green veggies......
