Silly question alert!

I think pepper is ok but not salt

Doesn't say about pepper.
 
I would of thought salt was a no no because of water retention well kearb something new every day :)
 
Salt and pepper are both fine. Salt is good to add sometimes if you're feeling a little lightheaded and dizzy. I'm a total pepper freak and have it on most meals, hasn't had any adverse affect at all. If you are adding salt just watch the amount and the effect it has on you, if you start to feel hungry it will really be thirst, so don't feed it! :)
 
you can also add chilli powder and herbs!
