Can we start a cut and paste sizing advice thread like the xmas challenge type stuff - ie cut and paste the advice and then add any comments.
I don't know for sure but there must be other people on here who have never shopped in "skinny" shops as an adult and I know when I get into normal sizes I am going to be a bit clueless. I have started getting the odd thing I like the look of on ebay and just hoping I will fit at some point but I just bought a size 18, a size 20 and a size 22 and my mum measured the waist band and they were ALL 42 inches.

So here goes some size advice sent to me by a friend- please cut and paste and add your own advice/comments/experience.

    M&S taken as base
    Next - similar to M&S
M&S per una range - smaller
M&S classic range - much bigger
    BHS - smaller

Asda George large range are decent sized and I have found even Evans trousers can be tighter than George.

note on george bras: their back sizing appears to be on the small side as well as the cup, i'm a comfy 36F in bravissimo bras, picked up one from asda in the sale yesterday, and it's TIGHT around the back, and slightly round the boobs too

    :) Chlo - differ all you like - that's what it's about - getting everyone's opinion.
Although I am really looking forward to being able to shop in a wider range of shops than Ann Harvey and Evans - it's also quite daunting. Never ever having shopped anywhere else all the info and advice I can get is extremely welcome!

    Hi all,
Hope you don't mind but i found this and thought it may be useful, for size 14's at least. Researched by daily mail in 2007. At the time the EU were exploring bringing in new regulations whereby stores don't have sizes, but measurements of bust, waist and hips printed on their labelling to try to reduce the discrepancy between stores. Not happened yet, so looks like that idea was shelved?
Have tried to find the supposed 'standard' for sizings but struggling. I really have no idea what i am, have to just keep trying on- which makes shopping a tedious and much longer task than usual if you haven't got much time! Although it is exciting to get into those smaller sizes i've never been in before! xx

Butterfly - Thanks! I shall save that and when I get down to 14/16 .... I will head for Jaeger first!
I wonder if there are any more tables like this around. Well done on finding it!
