so i have been working hard and leaving work really late so left my oh with all the books etc so he can make tea i even told him what to make and i find out today although he has been making my dinner every nigth he has been putting loads of butter in!

i cant believe he thought this was ok and now he is saying its MY fault because he found a recipe on HERE even though it wasnt on the slimming world forum he cant understand that this isnt slimming world and that there are loads of different groups on here and just coz he has searched chicken recipe doesnt mean he is going to get a free slimming world one.

im gutted because ive been angelic or so i thought and now i know im not goign to have the loss i want because he is feeding me butter.

its the same when i go to my parents, my dad made a 'free' paella - it 'only' had a full chorizo sausage and extra virgin olive oil in but its ok because its healthy oil (duh?!)

why is it no one understands i have to do this to the book or i WONT loose weight?!

im fed up im having so many hidden syns :'(

I can understand you being frustrated by finding out that you have been inadvertently synning. However, and I don't mean to offend, it is you that is on the diet and has all the determination etc... etc... whilst you do need to explain the rules a bit to your OH and your parents, at least they are trying to be supportive! My view is that if I want things done 100% my way when it comes to food then I do it myself. Don't be too hard on family if they're just not getting it yet! Even those that sign up to SW sometimes take a while for the message to sink in, let alone their family/friends!

As I said at the outset, I can totally understand you wanting to scream and pull your hair out, just don't be too hard on him - he did try so it would seem his heart is in the right place!

Hopefully now that you know what's been going on, you can maybe sort out the recipes that you want to use on night's that he is cooking rather than leaving him to find his own way! Good luck with it all ! :)

I agree with the others. It's not worth falling out with your OH over this, especially as he's trying so hard to help. No way would my OH, even now, have a clue what I could or could not eat.

Nevertheless it's very disappointing for you to know you've been having butter, but the result isn't a foregone conclusion so keep being 100% until WI then take it from there.

Write out the recipes that you want your OH to follow, that's your job, his job is to follow them to the letter. Have some quick things that he can cook if you ring and say that you're going to be unexpectedly late home.

I can understand your annoyance, really I can. Must be awful to feel you've been 100% and someone has sabotaged that. But your OH was only trying to help. He's trawled through a diet website trying to find recipes and cook something & I think he needs and deserves credit for that. OK it's gone wrong, but he did try. Honestly the only time my OH has cooked a meal was when I came home from hospital & had a new baby (he managed fish fingers, bread & baked beans) & when I left him & he was trying to impress me enough to come back! (Which I did, but not for the dinner, which was a one-off)

So, you have this fella who's willing to cook, try new recipes & please you. Why not spend a couple of hours, together or just you on your own, finding some nice SW recipes & sticking them in a folder. Next time he wants to make something he can consult the folder.

Good luck at WI, hope you don't have a gain.

Hes only trying to help, you cant really expect people not on the diet to know the ins and outs of it haha
Maybe you should print off some recipes which are suitable for him? So he doesnt have to look himself and get muddled up ha

I wish my OH cooked...EVER! I have to do all the cooking for us, although ive been considering letting him loose in the kitchen soon! Dont be too hard on him, and im sure you will still be able to claw back the 'buttergate' damage....it might not be as bad as you think!

    Good luck honeypie!! xx

Aww bless him but omg! My Oh does stuff like that and much worse! He did try but I totally understand your frustration. It's not rocket science and yet my OH even tho he is following the plan still doesn't get it.

I get sick of repeating myself and Babying him! TBH you would be better of doing it your self! Sometimes its more hassle than its worth letting some of the men folk do it! not all tho!

Other than telling him with exactly what & how to make for tea, I can only think you could make something in the slow cooker, that way at least you know what's gone in.

Or you could leave a few syns 'spare' for butter etc which could be in your tea.

As for the chorizo sausage I usually just leave what I don't want to eat & don't make a fuss. You can have extra virgin olive oil as a hexb.

At least you have tea to come home to my OH normally has tea ready but for whatever reason I arrived home last night & no tea:eek::eek::eek: I was so annoyed I love cooking but when just home from work it's such a bind & takes too long.

Opps - At least he was trying I guess :)

You never know - it maynot have been that much damage, wait & see what the scales say on WI. Maybe it would be an idea to print out loads of recipes so he can look through the file rather than on here??

I agree with the others that it was nice of him to make the effort (lots obviously don't)! However, I totally understand the annoyance factor. My husband also sabotages me constantly when he cooks. He is happy to cook every other day (we takes turns at cooking and putting the little ones to bed), but he will insist on trying to "freestyle". The trouble is, he will "freestyle" by adding oil to something "so it isn't so dry" or adding dried fruit to curries "as they are nice". He is no Jamie Oliver and as much as I love him dearly, it makes me nuts. Sometimes I wonder if he c*cks things up on purpose so that I will always do it myself. This has worked in many areas of our home life, but, I will not give in when it comes to cooking!!! In conclusion, I so know how you feel....

i know he was trying to help but i definately think he deliberatly messes things up so he isnt asked to do it again!! lol. i was just so annoyed because my sister watched him cook yesterday and even told him and all he said was 'oh well just dont tell her'. honestly i just think people dont understand sometimes even though i tell them over and over what i can and cant have and any uncertainties im only a phone call away!! nevermind i hopped on scaled this morning and it seems ive still lost, i was only hacving 10 syns every day so i havent been over 15 luckily!
