Im not drinking anymore than I was the last 2 weeks since I started the diet, yet my ketostix keep showing lighter shades of pinks, why is this? I would understand if I was drinking more, but Im not.

    Hi Donna

Could it be to do with what time of day you are testing, always darker in the morning when you haven't been drinking for a few hours. Either way light pink is the best place to be so don't worry!

I check at various times of the day. I think my biggest worry is that it's because of the bars. Now that Im having them, Im slowly being knocked out of Ketosis? Is this possible?

    Hi Donna

With ketosis you are either in it or not the colour doesn't indicate that you are more or less in it just whether you are well hydrated. If you are showing pink then its all good.

When you come out of ketosis, is it straight away, or can it happen slowly?

When I've come out of ketosis, it's immediate, as in a couple of hours and I'll always know why!! I really wouldn't worry about the colour, as Porgeous said, it's the pink that's important, not the depth of it.

Not you're not alone, I did it for a week or so and then never bothered, I always figured as long as I stuck to the plan it would work.

From the post I refer to above:

"Ketones will spill into the urine ONLY when there is more in the blood than is being used as fuel by the body at that particular moment. You may have exercised or worked a few hours previously, so your muscles would have used up the ketones as fuel, thus there will be no excess." So the way I look at it (as someone who started off about 3 colours along on ketostix and then for ever more is either trace or not showing as in ketosis - we were tested weekly on LL) our bodies have become more effective at using the fuel and therefore less ketones are spilling into the urine and therefore they don't show up on the tests.

The bars may well take you out of ketosis but so may the packs**** - but it is a temporary**** state and you are back in ketosis as soon as the glycogen is used up - which would probably be within an hour (at a guess) ... it really isn't anything to get hung up on.

****it is natural to come out of it as glycogen is made available to the body ... so anyone reading this shouldn't panic. As Porgeous and others have said - as long as you do the plan 100% you will be burning fat
