ARGHHHHHHH

Why do folk have to open mouths without thought?

I get a report of an visitor having problems linking their laptop up to our large plasma screen in one of the meeting rooms. Go up - just visitor in the room and start trying to resolve the problem.

The employee that this visitor has come to see walks into the room and as they're coming through the door asks "has anyone from IT arived" - upon seeing me - their first words aren't "Hi", or "How long is it going to take?" or "is it fixable?" but "this guy has lost 12 stone" (i have to correct them and say it's nearer 14).

I guess i'm reduced to being just a talking point for some i guess - but i'd have hoped for better then that.

You are better than that - and some peeps can say the most truly inappropriate things. You are more than your weight loss and I guess it takes time for people to *forget* and see you for you.
Jealousy or insecurity perhaps?
I know nobody introduces me at work saying I have 8 stone to lose so why should you have your loss announced in that way?!!!!

Hope better brain control surrounds you today :) xx

I agree with Starlight. The man must be in awe of you, and I would take it as a compliment :)

Without being there to hear tone of voice and things I would have to agree with the others. It's a formidable amount of weight you've lost, and not something you see everyday. I am in awe of you as I am of anyone who has managed to lose weight successfully.

As my dear old mum says "this months news is next months chip wrapper".....they will soon get used to the "new you" and then there will be something else to talk about and break up the boredom of their day.

Me and my sister work together (different departments) She's on SW too, and everyone keeps commenting on how good she's looking and how well she's doing! I then point out that I've actually lost more than her! Their faces are a picture, but why are they not noticing it on me?

I think you are amazing for losing that amount! And the way to look at it is if they have to gossip about you, then they must have sad, boring lives and have nothing to talk about! :)

I know its thoughtless, but its also flattering in an odd sort of a way. He noticed, but is just one of these ppl who don't think first.

Sorry, just trying to see a positive side to this :). You've done amazingly well and are inspiring to us all. Loving SW, 2 week in and was only going to try this for a month, then back to CD.. but more then thinking with staying with SW now, especially when there are such inspirations to egg us on.. Have a good day Ian. x

Thanks all. I know she didn't mean anything by it but it gets annoying - i don't go around shouting to all and sundry my weight loss (and particularly not at work) - but she felt it OK to do so - oh well.

She's not the only person who did it yesterday - and i think that annoyed me too.

thanks again though.

Aww Ian! It certainly is an ice breaker of a conversation I suppose! Lol.

I have to agree with the others, perhaps she is struggling herself and its been playing on her mind?
She does need to think before she opens her mouth again though!

She probably didn't think it was a problem because she thought she was complimenting you. Take pride in what you've done. I do think men are different than women though on these subjects, we'd probably be dancing around. Well done you.
