He tells me every day how beautiful i am and how proud he is of me just for losing weight..

my fiancé has been also very supportive, always encouraging me and also dieting himself with me to prevent me seeing him eating rubbish and feeling tempted. I had to do the hard work (making his meals and counting the points for him) but at least he stopped eating rubbish in front of me, which was one of the reasons why I had put the weight back on -- too much temptation!

    As a result, I've lost 6 stone and he's lost 2 :)

It is my husband for me too.

I love the gentle and kind way he keeps me on track if I look like falling off the waggon.

I don't mean to boycot the thread but I'm gunna have to get this off my chest!

I live with my boyfriend in Leeds, I moved here for uni so all my family are an hour an half away but my mam still rings and supports me as much as she can.

My boyfriend is driving me insane, he is very much overweight and I thought me joining SW would get him to think twice about how much he eats and maybe want to cut down too but he isnt! He made tea the other night and it was mostly a huge plate of rubbish - a LOAD of lamb on the bone (more than enough for 2 people), then loads of prawn toast and chips. I keep mentioning that he shouldn't eat this much but it just goes straight over his head. He's being very ignorant too, eating loads of biscuits and all the stuff i love infront of me!!

I've got an exercise bike in the living room and when i was on it he came and sat on the sofa with some crisps and chocolate fingers and ate them infront of me! If i was sat watching someone exercising i'd feel guilty and think 'i should probably go and do a bit of exercise today'. He has no excuses either, we have a dog so he could take her for a walk, he has weights upstairs he can use. I put on biggest loser and he sits and watches it but it's like he doesn't see that some of the men on there are the same as him.

I thought he'd at least want to show a little bit of support, or have some guilt when comparing what he's eating to me?

    Rdunbar, (((hugs))).

Much as you are doing the right things for you and to set a good example, there is no law that says everyone around you has to follow suit. You aren't his mother, and maybe he just isn't ready to face up to his weight issue, maybe he thinks he is happy as he is and is rebelling by doing everything he can not to lose weight. Maybe he's a little bit depressed and seeing you getting up and on with stuff makes him feel even worse about himself and makes him want to eat more junk.

I can't honestly say why, I don't know him, but trying to influence him to do it is a surefire way to get him not to want to. He needs to do this if he wants to, in his own time, and for himself, because it's the only way he will be successful at it.

My DH is ok in the sense that he tries not to eat crap in front of me, but he still eats it - he is of the opinion that what makes me happy is fine, big or small, he doesn't care. He's lucky in that up until now he's been able to eat whatever he likes and never gain a pound but he's approaching 40 and it is starting to creep up on him. He's quite limited in what foods he enjoys so goes for the quickest and easiest cheese based option generally.

I think ultimately unless a person wants this change for themselves, it becomes a mountain to climb rather than a relaxed wander up a pleasant hillside. And not many people have the focus and determination to reach the peak of their personal mountain successfully.

I have a lot of support, My hubby was following the plan as well, only not going to class, which was fine as I was/am so we had all the info we needed. My sister in law was the most amazing friend throughout my journey, and she started SW after visiting us for a week last year and losing 9lb while she was here eating all the stuff we did. Now both her and my brother have been going to and following SW, she has lost almost 3 st since august and my brother (who was larger) has lost over 5 stone. Whenever I want to give up, it's her I call and she sorts me out. And now I have a few friends locally that are all losing weight with one diet plan or another so we encourage each other too.

Hi peeps, I get quite a lot of support from my partner, my children, my mum, and my best friend, who is also doing the plan.

My partner is always complaining of his weight, but wont do anything about it. I keep bringing home recipes that I know he'll love, and he always seems very interested in trying them.

Whenever, he sits and eats a bag of crisps, or a pork-pie infront of me, I work out the syns and make sure that I tell him. I keep drilling into him that he can still eat what he likes, just in moderation. He doesn't want to join SW properly, but he says he is going to start and choose healthier. He has ditched the deep fat fryer, and the George Foreman has found its way onto the worktop, so I think im getting there with him, lol x

Thanks MadameLaMinx, i do keep thinking that maybe he can't face up to it but i don't want anything to happen to him. I guess i don't want it to be too late before he realises he needs to do something about it.

I think i'm gunna take your advice and just step back to let him realise himself. Maybe in a few months time when he see's how much weight i've lost (;)) he might come round to the idea.

Just looking at how much weight you've lost - wow! Amazing! Makes me feel like i can get there eventually too :)

    SW all the way
Until yesterday I would have said my hubby was v supportive. However last night as I was leaving to go to my SW Group he asked me if I would mind dropping into the Chinese and ordering him a Duck Chow Mein.  I don't know what annoyed me more. The fact that he asked or that he couldn't be bothered to do it himself. Still, used it to my advantage and said I would only do it if he did the washing up for a week and he agreed.

Best thing about it was that he said it was rubbish and that my new SW cooking was much better when I got home :D That'll teach him!

My boyfriend is very supportive. Always congratulating me when I've lost and keeping my spirits up when I'm feeling a bit low.

He keeps on telling me how my body is changing and how well I'm doing. For valentines day this year I came home to find him in the kitchen with all my slimming world books out so that he could cook me a syn free valentines dinner.

He has promised me that when I get to target he will take me shopping and buy me loads of nice new clothes and has even set up a seperate bank account that he puts money in each month so he can afford to keep that promise!

The other thing that he does which I find really helpful is he points out how my eating habits have changed. I used to comfort eat a lot and he says he's noticed that I don't do this as much any more as I'm having better more filling meals. It's nice to be reminded of the good changes I'm making.

Other than him my best mate is doing SW as well and we really help each other. Also all the guys I work with know I'm on the plan and are always asking me how I've done and what meals I'm planning for the week.

I couldn't do this alone and am so happy that I have all the support that I do.

Haha, i've been with him for over 4 years now so not gunna leave just because of this! I'm staying at my mams house for a couple of days to see family, so when i see him i'll point out all the things thats annoyed me and see what he says. I don't think he's doing it on purpose, just not thinking about what he's doing maybe?

I have mentioned it a couple of times but in a 'nag' kind of way.

As for eating too much, i'm gunna leave this to him. He isn't stupid and knows what he should do!

Yes, should have put a smiley in there to show that I wasn't entirely serious. But when people here are so frank about their relationships it sometimes makes me very thankful that I don't have one!

My boyfriend who I live with is incredibly supportive. He cooks SW friendly meals, picks me up Mullers when he does the shopping, tells me I'm gorgeous all the time and I really could not do this without him.

He however is not following the plan, but does eat what I eat in the evenings. However, if he wanted to eat a bar of chocolate, biscuits or pizza and I was around I wouldn't stop him or even mind if he did this. He isn't following the plan or needing to lose weight so I don't think he should feel he can't eat them. Just last week he had a long day at work, came home and said he fancied a Dominoes pizza so I encouraged him to have it and it didn't bother me that he ate it in front of me as i want to lose weight more than eat a pizza.

I am so grateful to him for supporting me and cooking the SW way that I'd never moan at him for eating things that he wants too when he fancies it.
