If I do ever make them, it's as part of a meal. So for example, I'd have them with a sandwich at lunch - to me, that would make them free! If I was going to have them as a snack I'd contemplate synning them but I wouldn't know where to start with that as maths really isn't my strong point ): hope that's some help!
hiyer, thinly slice potatoes, parboil for 5 mins, drain, pat dry, place on a baking tray(use spray oil) and put what seasoning you fancy on. do for about 20 turning ocassionally, you can also do them in the mirco, they are nice, and can be a diet saver
I made some yesterday that were really easy. I used the food processor to chop them so they were fatter than your average crisp and then washed them to get the starch off so they didn't stick together and then wipped them in the acti fry with a tsp of oil. They were really yummy! I did have them with my dinner and would have probably of had SW chips if not crisps so I didn't syn mine apart from the oil.
Having said that I don't think I'd bother synning them if I wasn't having them with a meal. I know it's greatly debated though.
I normally just use the potato peeler to thinnly cut some crisp like slices of potato, spray a plate with some fry light, lay the crisps on the plate, spray again with fry light and then pop them in the microwave for 5 minutes. They come out really well. If I want any flavour on them I pop them in a freezer bag (or sandwich bag) and shake them up! Paprika's quite nice
