    is this free on a red day? i thought i bought some butternut squash wedges from asda, but it turns out its sweet potato AND butternut squash, having red day today so was wondering if i need to syn it??

    No it's not free, yes you'll need to syn it (it's not a HEX either).
    Why not have an EE day and it will then be free.
