Thinking of Giving It Another Go

I am thinking of joining a local LL group in January and just wanted to say hello and express a few thoughts (fears) that I'm having.

Firstly a bit of history.

I originally did LL back in 2006 starting in January I lost 6 stone in 6 months. I felt fantastic and being slim for the first time in my adult life was fantastic. However just before I got to goal I decided to upsticks and move from Edinburgh back to my native Wales, where there unfortunately wasn't an LL Group. I went into Management (before the days of RTM) a bit earlier than I would have liked in order to reintroduce food before I left but unfortunately left to my own devices I truly went off the rails and over the course of the last 2 and 1/2 years have put a substantial amount back on.

I have tried CD, WW and SW in the intervening years but to no avail but a fellow Miniminer recently mentioned that there was a new LLC about 20 miles from me and I am considering rejoining.

Having failed miserably on CD more than once recently I am wondering whether I can ever stick to packs as well as I did first time around. Back then I was 100% for the full 6 months - I never cheated once - the prize was just too precious!

But I missed having the group counselling and support and wonder whether this could be the difference to keep me on track now. I feel like I didn't complete the journey properly last time.

So here I am just contemplating and saying hello :)

Hi Westie

Maybe because you know what to expect with LL and you know you will get the support of an LLC, it will be easier for you to get into a groove then you found it for CD?

I have tried to imagine myself, if I could ever do this type of diet again. And to be honest, I really don't know. Like you - I was 100% through Foundation & Development. It is hard to imagine doing it again - but I do believe it is possible. Just remember, once you get into that groove, you just ride it out. SO its just bucking up for the first few weeks.

I reckon you can do that. :) As you say - the prize is dear - and worth every bit as much now as it was back then. You can have it again.

Good luck hon - let us know what you decide.

Hi BL

I think my mind is about 90% made up. I have recently re-read my diaries from the time I first did LL and I think that at that time I was successful because of the group and LLC support. Don't get me wrong, this diet isn't an easy ride - the number of entries I wrote about how tough and isolating it was!!!

Unfortunately my CDC used to visit me every 2 weeks, drop off some packs and go again - no support - not even weighing me :( I'm afraid I'm the kind girl that needs a lotta hand holding

I've seen you around Minis and seen your photos and just want to say that I think you've done fantastically well.

Thanks for your support :D

Ah thanks hun, I know you are there and that means sooooooo much.

Hope things improve on your side soon (well on the one side that is really hacking you off anyway).

How on earth do you afford all those lovely Xmas dresses though ;)

You might regret the offer though :giggle:

Hi Sarah,
You know what I think!
No, as someone who has done every diet going, I am sure that for those of us who need it it is the group work and the counselling that will make the difference in LL. It's great that you were able to revisit your old Foundation diaries - it shows how much work you put into it and that you can do it. Never mind the re-gain - that was because you lacked the support but it won't happen this time.
