Tell me your top 5 shopping list must haves... the staple foods you need to get through a good week. Be specific please not just "fruit and salad".

If someone else posts what you want to say think of something different.


I'll start you off with:

  5. Baby sweetcorn

Also in the house we always have pasta, rice, wonderful wonderful frylight, tinned tomatoes, garlic, bouillon, sundried tomatoes, dried mushrooms, and millions of herbs (esp coriander) and spices (esp fenugreek).

Can't make many meals out of that though! I buy fresh stuff (fruit and veg, cheese, ham, that sort of thing) every couple of days, and stock up on the heavy-but-long-lasting things like tinned tomatoes and fizzy water once a month by Tesco home delivery. If I buy loads of stuff at once I find I eat much more of it than I need to because it's new and interesting - if I only have a couple of kinds of fruit in at a time, I eat when I'm hungry rather than just because it's there and it looks nice.
