i started Atkins on Monday and so far feel really good about it with no drama staying good.

Im however a little bit confused regarding how many kcals and Fat grams are ok in one day, i know that i should aim to keep my carbs below 20g.

This is the ratio i have from the last couple of days, does it look right? (I know that i have two days that is above 20grams, its all rather confusing and before you knew it i had planned wrong and ended up over the limit)

Date 19/03/12
Kcals 1053 Fat 79.9g (68%) Carbs 18.3g (6%) Protein 65.7g (25%)

20/03/12
Kcals 1530 Fat 121g (71%) carbs 17.2g (4%)
Protein 91.8g (25%)

21/03/12
Kcals 1098 Fat 77.7g (64%) Carbs 23.1g (8%)
Protein 77.9g (28%)

22/03/12
kcals 1219 Fat 83.5g (61%) carbs 17.1g (5%)
protein 100.6g 33%)

23/03/12
Kcals 981 Fat 50.8g (52%) carbs 22g (10%)
protein 86.3g (39%)

Thanks

My theory is don't count calories at all ... stick under 20g carbs ... and eat at least 3 times a day, when you are hungry. Don't force feed yourself. Eat your greens and try not to eat any processed foods (I haven't had any MIMS or processed cheeses etc as snacks .. just pork scratchings)

I am on week 4 of extended induction and I haven't counted calories once .. only thing I count (obsessively) is carbohydrate, I have lost ..

I know it is really difficult to get out of the calorie mindset (I came from WW myself so feel your pain) but once you get into the habit of NOT counting calories it is so liberating!

Have you got the Dr Atkins book? It is all laid out in the 1st / 2nd chapter, if you haven't read the sticky "so you are thinking of starting atkins" it is all in there too.

Good luck ... and put those calorie scales away! ;) xx

Agree. Carb counting most important especially at beginning:)

Thank you very much guys,it just feels so wrong not to consider kcals and fat after years and years of WW! I did read somewhere that you should aim for a 65% of kcals should be from fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs, but do i dont really need to worry about that either??
I have ordered the book and should have it for monday so will have a good read.
