I am on day 5 of Target Slim and want some feedback please. I have checked the specific target slim thread already. But nobody on there seems to have eaten vegetables while doing it.

I'm worried though I may be doing a few things wrong. Like it says I can have 100g of fruit a day until I get under 100kg and I've been having a banana.

Also I've been doing stir frys and salads with the veg allowance (2 cups a day of certain ones) and using a bit of garlic and soy sauce or balsamic vinegarette. I wonder will that stop me going into ketosis does anyone know?

I am having 3 shakes a day and 3 litres of water.

eire,i can't give u any advice but would love to know what the diet target slim is,ive never heard of it ....i'm starting cambridge tomorrow with 100lbs to lose,so fingers crossed,love ur name,also in dub...cheers,jennifer

Oh now I can sorry!! Target slim is 3 shakes a day and 2 cups of certain veg and water.

Sounds like its very similar to cambridge then except with added veg.,id be interested to hear ur first weeks loss so i'll be watching...also can u get into ketosis i wonder...sounds like its working for u so best of luck with it...cheers jennifer

I really hope I'm doing things right. The website isn't great to be honest so not much use.. I just had some broccoli and cauliflower earlier thought I was going to puke!!

Can't wait for weigh in.

I actually weighed myself this morning and I'm down 14 lbs! Have proper weigh in at chemist on Thursday.. Needless to say I'm very very happy with that loss!!

Ah thanks you're so nice! I'll ask them for more info in chemist I buy stuff from as on cd sole source u eat nothing at all i presume so it'd be different iykwim?

I went to the chemist today and they say I have lost 9lbs in my first week. Though my own scales say 14lbs loss. I think I'll go with mine as I'm weighing myself first thing in the morning whereas chemist scales will be at different times of the day iykwim?

The girl in the chemist was saying that I might not go into ketosis when I'm eating the 2 cups of veg a day so I think I'll stop that.

I had to laugh too when i saw that Eire. I think you should go by the scales that you can weigh on at the same time with the same amount of clothing (or not as the case may be), as long as you trust your own scales to be reliable.

I think that you would be much better off to drop the banana, as that is a fruit very high in carbs, around 27g, which is a lot. 2 cups of vegetables, assuming they are not starchy, will be about 10 to 15g carbs. The banana is the thing most likely to stop you getting into ketosis.

Having said that though, if having a banana a day makes the diet more bearable and is more likely to keep you on it, then its the choice you have to make. I think i would prefer the 2 cups of veg personally and make some homemade soup with it, but thats just me.

Ive heard that Target Slim is the irish version of lipotrim.

Thanks Lynn. I have stopped having that banana now and I didn't have any veg yesterday and I didn't miss them to be honest. They said in the chemist that they are optional.

I have to say it is getting much easier now doing this. Thankfully!!

I'm on day 11 of this diet and doing OK, coping wise. Today though I feel really weak, like that feeling when you get low blood sugar, and when I stand up too quickly I'm seeing stars. Maybe it's because I drank a good few strong coffees. What do you all think please?

The best way to check for ketosis is to get some ketostix and do a urine test with them, they will turn pink or purple if you are in ketosis. You may also notice a slight metallic taste in your mouth when you are in ketosis.

The weak feeling is pretty normal and it should pass in a day or two, its mainly your body's reaction to low carb levels. Carb converts very quickly to glucose to give you instant energy, if you are restricting carbs your body has to burn fat which is a different process and can result in this weak feeling. This does kind of indicate you are in ketosis. It will pass as your body gets used to it, and you will start to feel more energised.

Thanks Lynn, I did have a very strong
metallic taste in my mouth this week, now I know why!

I'm getting a bit paranoid about things knocking me out of ketosis like sugarfree gum, certain soluble aspirin that says it contains citric acid.

Looking forward to next weeks weigh in now.
