    Hi my name is Jo and I walked my way to good health. I needed to loss weight because I had my bowel perforated by 'accident', during a gyni operation. This has left me with a very large incisional hernia that needs another operation. I have followed a healthy eating plan and walked daily and have shed 121.25lbs so far. I am now on a waiting list for my operation. I have a diary if you want to have a look. There are progress pics in my profile album, and also some below.

    I hope this is of use to some of you who are stuck with exercise or just want a change from what you are doing now.

    Feel free to visit my diary and watch my progress. I up date it daily and record my walking there.

    I will record my walking here as well so feel free to use this space to record your walking if you feel like joining in. It has made a massive difference to my weight loss and could to yours too.

    I do 2 x 1 hour sessions each being 4 miles. So thats roughly 8000 steps an hour. I have worked up to this thou.

    If you look at my diary (link in my signature) it will give you an idea of what I do.

    The link in my first post about walking to loss weight is also good to read to give you an idea of how to build up your steps/miles.

    walking is so good, i walk about alot. the only time i use the buses is if im going somewhere a bit further away than normal :)

    I agree, its been a great way to exercise for me. I am limited to what I can do as I have a very large incisional abdominal hernia that I am waiting to have repaired (hence the weight loss journey). Walking doesn't seem to effect the hernia so I can walk till my hearts content.

    no expensive gym fee's, no equipment needed, can be done anywhere and everywhere :D

    An interesting read for anyone wanting to walk to lose weight, if you can get hold of a copy. 'The Step Diet' Book by James O. Hill, John C. Peters & Bonnie T. Jortberg.

    I found it a useful read and it got me thinking about walking for exercise. It works on 'Counting steps, not calories, to lose weight and keep it off forever'

    I got my copy off e-bay! They have copies for sale at the moment for less then £3.00 delivered.

    Just a thought for those who want to move more! :)

    wow Kernow Jo you look amazing, Ive started walking also but only around 2 miles a day (amazingly enough i never knew 2 miles could be so far!) will have a good read of your diary.

    Thank you I am starting to feel amazing now especially now I am feeling fitter.

    What pedometer do u use to track ur steps? I've never found a reliable one yet!! X
