Step 1 Sole Source + Water retention

I was over the moon at my 9lb lost but have been looking bloated.. When my waist was measured it 2.5inches bigger :( I think water retention! Does anyone else have this problem and what would you recommend? X

Yep, at first I felt & looked bloated, but the only thing to do is drink through it - crazy as it sounds. Your body probably isn't as used to as much water, so take it steady, but keep gouging. Before many more days have passed, you'll wake in the mornings WI a really flat tummy (even if, like mine, it lodges out again as soon as you sit up!!).

Great feeling, you'll get there :) x

I've been on the diet for 17weeks now... God knows why this has only just started now x

Am I allowed to take water retention tablets? X

I think you should ask your CDC Haleye. I don't know how water retention tablets work but they could deprive you of some important nutrient. Remember, we don't have a lot of calories and a lack of nutrients would be felt immediately.

It must be immensely frustrating and I am sure your CDC will have an idea of what it could be. Or if she doesn't, she can contact HQ. I have always had water retention a week or so before my period and no amount of drinking can get rid of it, although mine isn't as marked as yours.

Do you feel pain as well?

No no pain but I'm waking in the night to pee which I never normally do and I just look bloated ;( x

If it's affecting your sleeping patterns, then please do ask her if there is anything you can take. I feel I can deal with most things but only if I have had a restful night.

Also, after 17 weeks, your body should be getting used to the water intake. I know at the beginning I used to go to the loo all the time. It's slowed down now.

How annoying!!! I wonder if men suffer from water retention as we do...

Ha ha; I'm drinking more water than normal coz of the warmer weather but I've always drank a lot before I started this diet x

Bumping an old thread again, this time to ask if anyone else has issues with water retention? I've seen my GP, spoken to my consultant, phoned Cambridge HQ and spoken to their medical staff. My ankles have been larger than my thighs now for about a month. It's painful, unsightly, frustrating. It's not pre TOTM or ovulation, it's all the time near enough. I have plenty of water, gentle exercise, I try to elevate my feet. I do have a coffee most days, and some days two. I'm on SS so not having anything other than the packs. I wonder if it will ever abate?! Help!

How much water are you drinking?

Current loss: 28lbs and 21inches

Usually between 3-4 litres, not less than 2.5L.

Hmmmm, not sure hun! Have the doctors referred you to a specialist? xx

I've had some blood tests done, I'm awaiting the results. I had a bath with Epsom salts last night, which seemed to help a little bit. I've also cut coffee down to one every other day. Don't think I could cope with having less than that!

Fingers crossed it works hun or that the blood tests show something xx

Got my results and they may partly explain the water retention issues. Won't go in to it here as a) not a doctor and b) it's not clear if it's related to my diet or not. Good news is, seems like it'll be easy enough to treat.
