weight watchering slim fast

Hi All,

First week down and despite the massive slip up i had the weekend, I still managed to lose 2lb - woo who. I am so pleased!! and so proud of myself!!

I just wanted to ask a quick question:-

This week I have been using my fitness pal, and it has been going really well but a friend suggested I still followed Slim Fast, but pointed them through weight watchers and follow the weight watchers plan but replace breakfast and lunch with a slim fast shake?

Not sure how effective this will be?? :confused:

What do you think?? xxx

i think as long as pro point the shakes /bars and stay within your limit youll be fine 6 pro points in one shake etc good luck :D

I am on WW and usualy have at least one shake a day.
My shakes are 7pp because i dump in a yogurt and a ton of fruit and blend it all up. Makes it very filling and I dont snack between because I'm simply not hungry.
Depending on your age, sex, weight and height you get from 29pp a day minimum, and 49 weekly points.
If you had a shake x 2 thats 12pp
assuming you are on the lowest number of points thats 17 points left for dinner and treats which goes a long way. Today I had a load of deli cold meat, potatoes and huge heap of veg, for 9pp, couldnt even finish it I was that stuffed.
And of course theres still the 49 weeklies so if you do slip up, its your guilt free safety net ;)

I was thinking about doing the same thing because when i do ww/sw i never bother with breakfast or lunch. Technically i would have thought that it should work fine because you can have anything with ww as long as you point it but i would imagine that loses would be slower.
I have alot to lose so i've been having more calories then the slimfast plan allows because then when i hit the first deadly plateau i can cut down a little. x

been pretty steady, usually about 2lb a week.

I decided to use shakes as I completely fail at eating before noon, this was my solution and I really enjoy it!

If you don't want to go to class I have some links to let you do it without, I sub online to ww but first month I did it without.
WeightWatchers Daily ProPoints Target Calculator
to work out how many points you can have daily. you also get the 49pp for the week as your slip up net. they reset each week. You cant carry over points day to day or carry over weeklies :)

If you have an iphone or the like then an app called iwatchr is great for pointing and tracking and if you further upgrade it it has a weight tracker too. is like 59p for the app and about the same for the upgrades.

One thing that is very useful is the book you get with your first meeting of ww which gives you basic food values. If you're convinced you want to do without classes or subscriptions I would head along to one class to get the pack, check the ww site, they often have a voucher to join for free so you just pay the class for that week ;)

I would highly recommend if you do like the system to subscribe at least online, being able to look up points is invaluable :)

Hi Lou,

I have access to WW online as I used to be a weight watcher leader when it was the discover plan.
I have been calorie counting but found counting calories in everything I eat and drink including diet drinks is a bit much and becomes a bit too obsessive.
I was thinking that following Propoints but replacing the breakfast and lunch with slim fast shakes and following the 3 snacks a day rule will really help me.
I want to do a plan that I can follow for the long term and not just a quick fix.

What do you think?

id do it if it will suit you better. Its about making it work for you and your journey :)

and freeeeeee diet juice yay!

For me personally sf is too restrictive as a whole plan but the shakes fit in well for me doing ww pp. Breakfast is the only shake I have everyday, I do a shake for lunch sometimes but not always. I like the option of eating reg food, and not feeling like I've blown it if I do.

Not even sure if you need to worry about the 3 snacks rule. If you need something to keep you going then sure, go for it :)

No harm in just trying it right?

Totally agree with you hun, I am going to do this as it seems so much easier than counting calories in everything, it seems much more manageable in the long term also. xxx

hiya....i hope everyone is getting on ok...i ahve been doing WW for a while, but i get far too obsessed with it all, and it makes me miserable, too much choice off foods etc...odd i know !!! so i have been using slim fast the last 2 days & Pro-pointing, yesterday was my first day, shake for brekkie, bar for lunch then huge 600cal dinner of chicken,new pots & veg, milk allownace through the day totalled 26pp...didnt have any snacks, never felt peckish etc......i must admit i felt soooo relaxed having those meals taken out of the way for me, not obsessing about what i can eat, how many points for this that and the other etc..and this has to be the first time ever i have not gone over daily points lol......today is day 2 and so far so good :):):)
