Why do this?

I'm feeling weak today. I have loads of reasons for wanting to lose weight but somehow today they don't seem to matter v much. Being slim seems soooooo v far away there is a pain in my gut (and head) and there is food right there. And who really wants to live to 90????? Ok.

So could you guys post the reasons why being fat is bad and being thin is good. Please. So that I can see them now and pop back at other weak moments for a recap.

Being fat is rubbish because :
You get sore thighs when they rub together
You can't get pretty clothes that fit you nicely
You can't go on the best rides at Alton Towers
You can't run around with your children without getting out of breath
You spend too much money on food that you don't need
You never feel comfortable in your own skin
You get looks from people in the street
You don't actually want to be fat... it's just easier than facing up to it.

Being slim is better because:
You are none/suffer from none of the above.

Amen.

My main reasons for carrying on :):

- I will be fitter and healthier
- I will feel better about myself

I want to succeed. If I don't, it's my health and life that will suffer... no-one elses!

Keep going, it's only gonna be for a while, food is always going to be there afterwards, see this as a way of changing the way you think about food, if we can survive the first few days living on such a small amounts then it just goes to show that we don't need as much as we used to eat :), have a drink of water, do something to distract yourself. Set yourself small goals, try not to focus to much on how far you've got to go, take it day by day, eventually you'll start to see how far you've come, keep remembering it's only short term, it will be so worth it in the end!x
How many days in are you? Have you started a diary? It might help, you'll get lots if support in here :)

Main reasons to lose it:
- to feel more fit and healthy
- having more energy for my kids
- taking my kids swimming for the 1st time
- being able to wear practically ANYTHING
- having confidence in abundance
- going out and not feeling like 'the fat one'
- not worrying if a chair will hold my weight
- actually enjoying a hot holiday abroad
- to let my OH see me naked ;-)
- not cutting the size label out of clothes

Oooo I could go on forever sorry! And I can't think of one reason why it would not be good to be at my goal healthy Weight of 9st 10lbs! I just can't wait to get there xxx

being fat is just rubbish, it's horrible in summer, you have to make excuses for yourself, there's about three high street shops that sell clothes you'd actually want to wear.

Your start weight is three stones less than mine was and I'm just about to order my last box as I'll be at goal by the time I've finished it if not before!!!!! I started 3rd January and I'll be there in four weeks, surely that tiny amount of time out of your life is worth it???

Dutch your loss is amazing and so inspiring! My journey starts on Monday and I can't wait to get to the point that you are at, I bet it feels wonderful! Well done you! x

Just think of that sexy pert bottom you'll have in:

a pair of skinny jeans
a dress, Pippa stylee
a bikini on the beach
a pair of neat shorts when you're out on a Summer's day
your cozzie when you go to the pool
when you get up in the morning and have a smug twirl in the mirror in your bedroom!

Lol @ 'smug twirl in the mirror'! I see these slim looking women doing this on adverts and get very jealous! One day that will be all of us! Haha x

Oh god you guys. I read your posts and I don't know how to thank you. I got through the day but was super hard and let's just say that there were tears on my OH's shoulder. It was unbearable for a while and then OH gave me a hug and kinda patted my head and told me that everything was going to be ok. It broke the floodgates and I had a good cry. And you know..then I wasn't hungry at all. It had been emotional hunger all the time. And I didn't know the difference. Big big eye opener. I got through the rest of the evening but I'm so glad this day is over and I'm off to bed.

Thanks

My reasons for wanting to lose weight are:

To set a good example for my kids
To be someone my husband can proudly show off on his arm
To shut my mother and mother-in law up - they nag me about my weight...
To feel good in my skin. Not just good. But great.
To have that ability to run and get out of breath and yet keep running for miles and miles and get the buzz afterwards
To be able to go to a nightclub just one more time and dance the night away
To fit in an airplane seat comfortably
To be able to wear high heels
To be able to admire myself a little. People say vanity is wrong but I think I need a little. I haven't like how I look in a long time
To say "I did it" and achieve a goal I set
To feel good on holiday in lovely monsoon sundresses in small flattering sizes (instead of the tablecloth type dresses)
To take up a sport I enjoy and some dancing classes maybe
To not be the fattest mom at the school gate ( and not to suffer the ostracisation that goes with that)
To have men look at me again. Not make moves but to no longer look away so quickly
To not have a face that looks like a football with eyes and hair
To be able to reach the stuff my kids throw around on the floor without huffing and puffing
To regain the respect of the world..fat people are simply not respected as much as thin people are
To stop people's perception of me as a big fat lazy cow (at least that what I think my sisters in law think I am)
To extend my life by more than a decade
To Improve my health and reduce chances of all those scary avoidable diseases
To conquer my emotional eating once and for all

If I think of more I'll post again. I'll be coming back here time and again through the diet so thanks for the input. Reciting the reasons makes the diet easier to keep to.

I honestly think that being 'big' suits some people. They are pretty, they are outgoing, they have a good time, their skin glows, they have fabulous hair etc etc.

I am NOT one of those people. I look and feel too big, fat, too unhealthy, ugly. Being this size does not suit me at all, so for me, being fat makes me feel less worthy than other people. I want to be slimmer and promise I will love myself for it.

Some fantastic posts here - each and every reason resounds with me. Let me try to add a few:
to not feel like a total fraud in most high street clothes shops - just once I'd love to actually buy something from somewhere like Topshop!
to walk down the street and accept those admiring glances - and return them!
I'm going on a hot holiday to Croatia this summer and I really reeeeally don't want to feel uncomfortable - physically and emotionally - I want to actually enjoy the sun!
to buy a summer holiday wardrobe - to be able to wear skirts without thighs rubbing together; to wear funky shorts; to wear pretty girly things without feeling like a heffalump.
to not feel like an outsider at the gym.

i'm sure there's more, but these are foremost in my mind at the mo

Me too. Fat doesn't suit me at all.

Aw pinkiepie. He is a really good guy but I feel like I'm letting him down. He is still same size as when we met 15 yrs ago. I went 8 stone heavier. Not fair on him.

Hay Kay. "heffalump" lol love it.

Another reason:
I don't want to have to shower three times a day in hot weather

I agree.....to all the above :)

(referring to the OP) but hang on a moment, ok you're not the same woman as when you started out together (in size I mean). But men sometimes have the little boy tendencies going on, on the inside, ie, "if she changes, she might leave me". "if she regains her 'babe' status then she might find someone better", "how will I deal with it if my mates fancy her". All this will be going on in his head, maybe subconsciously, which is why he might try to sabotage you.

Lots of reassurance needed?

:)

These are the reasons I've put together for me, that are keeping me motivated :) I have the list printed out in my bag, stuck up on my desk, on the wall... trying to keep it forefront of my mind :)

  • I will be healthy, or the healthiest that I can be
  • I will set a good example to give my daughter the best chance to be healthy too
  • I will be able to shop for clothes in any shop
  • I will be too small to shop in Evans
  • I will look good and believe that I look good
  • I will have the energy to play in the park
  • I will feel comfortable at the beach and the pool
  • I will not be the fat Mum or the fat friend
  • I will be the best version of me that I can be, and not hide behind anything, particularly my size
  • I will have the energy to go cycling and play badminton and not look like a beetroot
  • I will be able to do the Palace to Palace cycle ride that I've committed too, and finish it
  • I'll be able to stand up straight, tall and proud
  • I will be even happier when I look in the mirror
  • I will not have fat as part of my identity
  • I will be able to wear heels and not wobble over
  • I will weigh less than my husband, so he can tip down on the seesaw!
  • I will be able to tell that I have cheekbones, a collarbone and tendons in my feet and my hands
  • I will be memorable but not as the big, fat, cheerful one
  • I will be memorable as the confident, colourful, determined, attractive one
  • I will be able to paint my toenails without feeling like a contortionist, or an extra long brush
  • I will be happy of photos of me with my family, especially my daughter
  • I will feel confident learning to dance (one of my goals once I have lost weight)
  • I will be living, breathing and being the best version of me that I can possibly be

I love this thread and agree with all of these reasons for doing this. I also want to increase my chances of starting a family with my lovely husband of 7 years. We left it late in life and I found out in February that I'm actually in menopause. Now that I've been on HRT for the last 3 months my Dr told me that if I drop the weight it might help my chances of producing another few eggs and we might get lucky enough to get pregnant. I'm 41 and hubby is 45 and we would love to have kids of our own. I have such good reasons for making this journey work for me this time and I want to get to a healthy weight so that having a baby would be easier on my body and will enjoy pregnancy more.

Oooh, good luck brown-eyed girl. This diet really can help with fertility. I first did LL a few years ago, having struggled to have a child for years, and actually got pregnant whilst on the diet. I really hope something similar happens for you :D
