WW Old System points

Hi, I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. I did ww years ago and was very successful. I kept the weight off for years put gained weight when I stopped smoking. I tried the new pro point system but never lost weight on it. I would like to do the old points again. I found 3 cookbooks I had stashed away but is there a difference between pure points, switch and 123 success. Also I have searched eBay but can't find any starter packs for sale telling me how many points I should be on or how to work out points. I used to have a calculator but got rid of it. Maybe you might know an app or web page that could help me.. thanks Sinead

Hi Sinead and welcome to the discover board x We have a general chat thread on here called The Check In Point, feel free to chat if you like, we love new peeps joining in x.

If you have a look on this board but maybe 2 or 3 threads down from the top in a sticky you'll see a thread called 'how many points should I be on' or something similar, you should be able to work it out from there, give us a shout if you need a hand with that our anything else, I've got the shoppers guide and the eating out books.

There's no real difference between the programmes, they just renamed it every couple of years (I did them all :), pure points, 123 success, discover, switch and probably more! ).

So when are you planning on starting? X

Hi chic81 and welcome to the discover board to you to x you moved over from sw? X

The second link looks great, I need to save it on my phone x

Oh great thanks. I won't be starting until 6 weeks away. I'm on a vlcd until then as its my brothers wedding. I got married in may myself but put on a lot of weight afterwards purely from over eating and wine. I think I had denied myself so much in the build up I went mad and binged loads afterwards. I just have 12 ibs more to lose so once that is gone I'm back on ww. Really looking forward to having a healthy relationship with food again and losing last few ibs the right way.

Yeah, I'm enjoying the whole 'eating healthily' thing. I'm actually doing the old core plan at the mo which I'm loving, but overate today and am really feeling it - got killer heartburn tonight. I didn't realise just how well I've been feeling the last few weeks on ww! You're very brave doing vlcd, I couldn't manage it, I just love eating too much.

Never heard of unislim!

Unislim is an Irish diet plan. Free veg and free protein, fruit, yogurts less than 60cals per 100g. Instead of syns and points they are called yums. Carbs are not free you can have one Carb at breakfast I.e 30g porridge and for lunch and dinner u just fill your 9" plate quarter full. It can be a bit complicated until u get the hang of it. You get a book etc with the list of foods. 1 yum is about 70 cals.

Old points are about 70 cals too. It sounds very like core. I do like the name of yums :) seems quite restricted at the same time, are you not allowed treats then?

You have 2 treat yums a day to spend plus 3 normal yums. Normal yums would go towards maybe butter, extra bread, higher yogurts, sauces etc but treat yums go towards chocolate and crisps and alcohol. U can save your treat yums and have them at the weekend if u like.

Thanks Hules.

Yes a handy link for points.

I had recently joined sw as have seen friends doing well in it, I've always lost weight in old style ww points but thought would try sw but not really for me- I like ww as u can have anything in moderation.

I lost 2.5 stone 2 years ago but have gained 2 back so back on it, aim for at least a stone for beginning of October for wedding we are going to.

How's it going for you?
X

I started back properly about 7 weeks ago and have lost about 13 lbs I think and 21 in total. I'm just over half way to my first goal Ann's then I'll see how I feel as its still inn the 'overweight' bmi.

Have you already started then? Or are you 'preparing' :)?

That's good loses bet ur pleased. I'm aiming for something like that.

2nd week in but not that great at weekend. Started at 13.4 was 12.13 first wi, so down a stone bracket so minus a point so hope that will help.i would love to get to 12st by beginning of October so will need some good weekends and exercise, usually walk a lot but being school holidays I've not got the school run to do so must make an effort x

Hules you are doing so well. I spent all last night preparing and seeing what points my typical day's food would be. I think for me as i will only be on 16pts a day is making good choices so i wont end up hungry. for example an apple is 1/2 pt but a banana is 1 1/2 pt. i would rather save that pt and use it for 2 more apples or other pieces of fruit that i could snack on later.
when i do switch over i think i will be escorted from the shops for loitering cos i think it will take me ages once im in the supermarket to work out the best bread to get, the best sauces to get etc. do my fit ness pal have the sat fat on their website. i know they do calories and fat etc. that might be a handy tool to use so i could work out the pts before i leave the house. i shop mostly in aldi and then tesco.

That was a good first week! I started again at 13st 4.5lbs, lost 6.5 in my first week (mostly due to reduced quantities it think), then it's crawled since then. I'm okay with that though, I can do slow and steady. I'm going away in October and I'd really like to be under 12 by then, if not 11 and a half!

Are you sure you'll only be on 16 points? That sounds very low hun - I'm on 22...

I think WW does make you make sensible choices, I love that I can currently eat fruit as long as I am actually hungry (on core). I do actually eat bananas even when pointing though as I buy little'un which I count as a point. I like them chopped up in my muesli. The best thing though is strawberries as you get lots for 1/2 point.

I take aaaggeees at the supermarket. I can do the points formula in my head now so doesn't take so long to choose thank goodness, but I can still be seen pondering :D. My biggest thing is trying to work out what to have for meals as my plan doesn't have convenience foods, I'm supposed to make most things from scratch. I like it, I had a BBQ baked chicken last night which was yummy, but I need inspiration...
