Why am I not a size zero yet???

Hi guys.....so, I started Friday and I know I shouldn't but I keep getting on the scales EVERY day and they're not moving.

At my size, with the drastic change in diet and doing 5 minutes a day on a cross trainer I would have expected to lose about 1lb a day for the first week. I did when doing weight watchers.

I know 5 mins a day is pitiful but I work from home and with the year of ailments I have turned in to a total slob. So I figure that everything I do will help, and hopefully get easier and I will do more.

I kind of don't want to stick to a specific diet this time, I just want to healthy eat and get off my ar*e more.

I have always been big, I lost 6 stone before (little did I know I had gallbladder disease, and that was the reason for it) so of course the minute they took my gallbladder out, my appetite came back....then I badly broke my ankle and was bed bound for months on end, and well you can guess the rest. I have put 6 1/2 stone on in just over a year and I'm miserable!!

Anyway, I have been given 1680 calories a week. I have been eating about 1400 and burning a further 100. I don't snack, everything I eat is low fat, grilled healthy etc so why the heck are the scales being so cruel :/

I'm going on holiday in 8 weeks and am absolutely determined to get rid of 2st 7lb HELLLLLLLLLP

Hi!

First of all, I wouldn't worry about 'only' doing 5 mins/day on the cross trainer - I don't even do that most days! Not sure how you are burning 100/day if you are only doing 5 mins though?

Main thing is to get your calories sorted first I think and then worry about the exercise. Why are you only eating 1400 kcals/day when you have been given (by MFP? for 2 lbs/week loss?) 1680? Seems quite low for your height and current weight. What is your normal activity like? Can you make you MFP diary public so we can see what you are eating?

There is nothing wrong with getting on the scales every day (I do), as long as it is once a day first thing in the morning, as long as you don't expect the scales to go downwards everyday. Yes, in the first week or so of a diet though you probably would expect daily losses though.

You may just have caught the wrong time of the month for you see a loss on the scales if you normally gain then? I usually STS around mid-cycle.

MFM says that it's 100 calories burnt when I put it in my diary.

I have mademy diary public. I have changed the goal to 1500 a day as I think that's doable based on what I have been eating. Plus at my size it won't hurt to shift it a bit quicker.

My normal activity level is zero, I work from home and am rather lazy if I'm honest.

Just weighed and I have gained 1lb.......it's impossible!!!

I have just come off though last night/today.

Panic over, 7lb loss.....THAT'S more like it :D

You should track your measurements too.
Ive found weeks when i dont loose weight i still loose a few cm off my waist . Makes me feel loads better because l can still see progress.
Impressed by your comitment to do 5 mins everyday on the cross trainer. I tried that and didn't even make it past the first week ☺

Thanks, I'm REALLY enjoying it all this time. My partners doing it all as well (diet and exercise) so I have no one sat there stuffing cakes while I'm eating lettuce lol

Yesterday I did 14 mins without stopping on the CT and again 15 tonight. It's getting easier and easier.....I can't believe only 11 days ago I couldn't do 1 minute without having a fat attack.

I actually think I might do it this time

Well done!!! Nothing like seeing your fitness levels skyrocket. You can't fake that! Just be aware that I've found MFP massively overestimates calories burned :-( it's so annoying and caught me out a bit at the beginning!
