Hello all,

so I'm back after a few failed restarts and so far so good with the first week down and no cheats!!! I did Cambridge back in 2012 and I lost 4.5 stone and then fell pregnant!!! We were told the chances of conceiving without medical intervention was very slim but I put money on it that the reason I fell pregnant was due to the weight loss. I am a PCOS sufferer so my weight has always yo yo'd. I gained a lot of weight during pregnancy even tho my son was born eight weeks early and weighed 2lbs 15oz due to pre eclampsia. He is perfectly healthy tho and is now a typical 18 month old. So now this year it's time to focus on getting me healthy so that I can run around after my son and enjoy the summer without feeling embarrassed about my body.

I had my first official weigh in tonight and I am 10lbs down! I want to lose another stone in the next 4 weeks before my girls hollday to NYC....so here goes!!

Good luck to everyone on their journeys xx

I am familiar with your PCOS situation. Same thing happened to me. I've often thought that I have an intolerance for carbs and it may be related to PCOS (but I've never read that anywhere.). So I think that's why this diet is good for me.

Hi Julie, I totally agree!! I think if they researched it then they would definately see a common pattern with PCOS sufferers and carbs! My symptoms haven't been as bad since I had my son but I definately still have it although I think the erratic TOTM is caused by my excess weight! Xx

Just wanted to congratulate you on the 10lb loss, that's fantastic :D I'm not familiar with the Cambridge diet though.

Could be that the change of diet is affecting your period. Think I've read that somewhere.

I've only been on the diet for a week and they have been pretty erratic since I had my son. I regulated before on Cambridge which is why I think I managed to get pregnant. I don't mind not having them at the moment!! Haha!!

Thanks Saraphoenix - Cambridge is fab!! There is a website with all the information about the diet if you wanted to know anymore xx

I shall have a look! :)

Hey, I read your first post and it has really inspired me! I started Cambridge on 5th Jan and i'm trying to lose the weight so I have a better chance of conceiving as I also have PCOS.
I've tried metformin twice but don't want to try it again until i'm at a more healthy weight and my chances will be higher.
Its great to hear you managed to conceive naturally and has given me a lot of hope!

I have 2 cambridge babies. It should carry a health warning lol 'Cambridge may cause pregnancy'.

Yep I have one too my four year old lets say a bit of a surprise considering I have a 20 & 17 year old xx

Aww bless you Hun. Yes it is possible to conceive naturally with PCOS. I too tried metformin but it did nothing for me. Cambridge regulated my periods after 8 months and then 3 months later I was pregnant! I didn't even realise till I was 8 weeks gone as I thought my periods had started going irregular again.

How much have you got to lose Hun? Xxx

Hi Lily, how are you doing??

Hi Hun, have no idea what's going on but I've been 100 % since last weigh in 6 days ago and scales have not moved one bit, really frustrating. I could be due in but I have no idea as TOTM have been really erratic for the last few months and I'm def not pregnant!!! Lol!!

How are you getting on? Xx

I'm good Lily, thanks. I hate when the scales don't move. That was me last week and eventually I dropped by 2lbs on weigh in day. But I must stop weighing so much. Sometimes I feel like I only get off the scales to eat or sleep!

I am sure your loss will come through. It has to .... You have been 100%!! It's just a matter of time!

I have been so busy this week but aiming for -4lbs since I only dropped 2 last week (definitely water retention - I haven't been off the loo since totm started .... Other than to jump on the scales of course!!). If I can do 4lbs this week then I will be very close to - 3st!!

Take care!

3 stone is amazing Julie!! Well done!! I lost 4.5 stone last time I did Cambridge and I really want to exceed that this time and work up the steps to maintain. When do you think you will go on to the next step?

Well I was definately right about thinking TOTM could be imminent....!! Suggests this could be the reason for water retention. Fingers crossed I will drop a couple of pounds over the next couple of days before weigh in Thursday. I'm having a planned break day Friday for hubby's birthday then back on for 11 days before the next weigh in. Hubby is just cutting out rubbish and he's lost over a stone in 2 weeks. So impressed, he's looking very scrummy too!! Haha!! Xx

Aw that's good. So you should see a difference once some of the water retention goes. Hopefully by Thursday - fingers crossed.

Your husband is doing great too. Don't you hate how easy it is for men?? My husband is the same. He stops eating chocolate for a week and can drop half a stone.

Let us know how you do at your weigh in tomorrow. Good luck!

Meant to answer your question about going up the steps. I do SS 5 days a week with 3 products and a little skimmed milk for tea/coffee. Then 2 days a week I have a small step 2 meal - usually chicken or egg. The meals seem to give me something to look forward.

It's hard to tell if this slows down my weight loss as I have had so much on .... Xmas, new year. Traveling, totm, etc. but I can't imagine it would. It's about an extra 400 calls per week. So it's nothing.

So I am happy to stay doing this until I lose another 2 stone to get down to 11.5. I can't decide what my target should be (mainly because I have never been lighter than 12.5 st in my adult life). So I will get to 11.5 st then see how I feel. I have no idea what I would look like at that weight. I think I will want to shift another stone though. At that point I would probably move to step 3 to do the last stone.

That's what I'm thinking just now but will see how it goes. I am determined that I definitely need to go up the steps though. I have seen others do lighter life then just go back to normal and balloon!! Can't have that after all this effort and sacrifice.

Totally agree!! I only stopped last time as I was pregnant. I've set my target to 12st as I'm normally a size 14 at this weight and feel comfortable at this weight although I might just keep going if I can.

How are you getting on? 2nd weigh in for me tonight and 6lbs off!! Sooooo chuffed.
I have a day off tomorrow for hubby's birthday but not going to go silly. Just a small lunch out then back on the wagon!! Xxx

well done!!!! thats fab!!! enjoy your day tomorrow xxx

6lbs!! Wow! That's 16 lbs in 2 weeks! Well done. You must notice a difference already.

Sounds like you're in control for your hubby's birthday lunch tomorrow too. I'm sure you'll have a nice time. x
