    Hello everyone - im a newbie!

    Hi there - just joined - been with slimming world since a while now and did loose 2 stone and get to goal - but ive put 8 pounds back on and desperate to loose it again - but its so hard - need support and inspiration if you can help me! - thanks!

    1. How did you put 8 pounds back?

    Just slipping back into old habits i suppose and need to get my 'diet head on' - cant afford to go to class so help from others on here would be great!

    Great news. You know exactly what caused the issue. In many ways you need to fix a new image of yourself. Not the old one (a person with extra pounds and bad eating habits maybe), but the new one (a person with no extra pounds who loves eating healthy, exercising, meeting with like minded people, enjoying life, etc.). You may do a test. Decide just for today to act as if you are the person you want to be. You follow your weight loss plan, go to class, think, talk and act like the person you want to be. Please do this for today, put yourself in this mindset, act this way and inform me tomorrow about your test. If you agree with this concept just reply to my post. CU around.

    Thanks Baxk - i will try that today for sure. I do always try to refer to it as 'healthy eating' rather than using the dreaded 'diet' word!!

    Yes I agree with you "diet" is a little scary for many individuals. On the other hand "healthy eating" is friendly and includes a very positive message. Healthy eating is the key for a better health, something you learn from now on not just for weight loss reasons but for a better quality of life.

    Hi Baxk - well it started well - had the right mindset on all day - until later that evening when i was dashing around with too much to do - and ended up having a quick and easy tea (pitta and reduced fat houmous) as no time to cook. Just ate too many pitta bread thats all!

    When you're in a rush, we've all been there, and don't feel like doing a spectacular meal, before you sit down have a bit of fruit, apple, orange, peach, something not picky, as you're on the go it'll be easy to eat, plus it should fill you up a tad before you sit down for tea, meaning hopefully you'll want less pitta bread!

    That's my thing to, so know how hard it is, if I've just got home and am peckish I'll go "Oo crisps, only 4 syns" rather than grabbing an apple which is free, but I've started trying to have a bit of fruit before dinner or I'll eat till I'm stuffed rather than when I've just had enough. I've got a friend and for as long as I've known her, when we go out to eat she'll push the plate away and say "I've had enough now" I'd ask her if she was full and she'd reply "No, I've just had enough, I don't need anymore" I always thought it was very odd, but now I get it!

    Oooh - i wish i had that willpower - as a child we were taught to clear our plates - so feel guilty if i leave food - so i just need to use smaller plates or make sure its all healthy foods!

    Well this is exactly my point. The satisfaction that you've earned a day. The feeling you have when you act with the right mindset. The emotional power you gain after a successfull day. If you find hard to stay focused for a full day, cut it to 3X 8-hours or 4X6-hours or even 24X1 hour parts. Decide that in this period of time you will act with the right mindset. Every part is one stone you want to build a wall-your new self.     Thanks for your encouragement. It does help. Not feeling great this morning - started my diet properly again on Monday and have my weigh in date (at home) each Friday morning - and ive gained 0.75 pounds. I know its a knock on effect from what i had last weekend before i started on Monday - but was still hoping for a loss to spur me on. But there will be a loss next week - im determined!!
