5:2

mummy2beslim

taking one day at a time
does this work as good as the alternate days I am thinking may be just eating normal for 5 days and having two low and maybe jiggle in between .I have bad pains again and not eating much seems to set it off ,started taking my opemprazole again so maybe gonna give this a try

To be honest i am not sure how well that regime will work for you ?Personally i need to have 3 dd in order to lose although everyone is different it does seem harder to lose those last few pounds as you don't have much to lose going by your stats. Give it a try but I do think you will need more than 2 hun x

Did the guy on that horizon programme not lose a stone doing 5:2? Might be wrong! I think you should do what suits you! No point being in pain just to speed up weight loss! You take care :) x

I used to have a stomach problem made lots worse by not eating, the acid in the stomach really irritated it x x the guy in Horizon lost weight doing five ups and two downs so go for it x

Yes he did but she has asked for an opinion and I have given mine;) For some reason members have been finding the last few pounds fairly tricky and thats on at least 3 DD , I don't want to set someone up to fail, but its only my opinion. I honestly think she would sts or even gain on 5 UP s with so little left to lose. I would never suggest someone suffer with pain to lose weight either so if the DD continue to cause pain despite the meds then my advice would be unfotunately she may have to try an alternative diet .That said there is no harm in trying I am always happy to be proved wrong x

Hi!

I would tend to agree with Bajoleth. I do 3 DD's and have a slow and steady loss with about 1 stone still left to shift. I know that 5:2 would not work for me. My hubby had a go at this diet and 3 DD's were too much for him, he lost too much weight too quickly (hate him!), so the 5:2 works well for him. I think men tend to shift it easier then us women!

Fingers crossed that it works for you though, keep us updated!

X

I am just a wee newbie to all this so guys know more than me :) I just remembered that guy on horizon :) 3 dd is definitely working for me so far :) xxx

best thing is to try different combinations and find your best fit. i started off doing ud/dd of 1800/500 but the DDs killed me as it was too little calories. im now following ups and downs of around 1600-1700/700-800 which is find more suitable for me as it gives me that bit more leeway on downs and still allows me to have treats without going mad on the ups.this also balances back at an average of 1300 per day which would normally result in weight loss on a regular calorie counting diet with light-moderate exercise. i personally found this easier to set a daily amount, calculate by 7 (for days of the week) and split the calories according to how many you want on an up and a down, providing you still get a decent 'swing' between the up and down amounts. not saying this'll work for everyone but i'm nearing my goal and found that trying different methods has worked. hope this helps a little :) x

thank you all .I think I will just up the cals on a DD and eat a bit less on a Up and try find a happy medium ,suppose I will have to try and see what happens .Thank you :)

Hello, lurker here :read:

Just to say I was a bit dubious about the results on the horizon programme because although he kind of made it sound as though he lost a stone in one month on the 5/2 diet, he went back to the very first doctor who was looking at long term calorie restriction to get his 'final results'. I suspect the stone he lost was also partly due to the 4-day total fast he did and various other things while he filmed the show and took longer than the month to achieve. Not to say this way of dieting doesn't work - it's working well for me so far :D - but I think his results may not be something we can use to base results on!

I think people (women in particular) that want to maintain still keep to the 1 to 1 rotation so it may be quite hard to lose on just 2 days a week. Of course for those that have loads to lose it may still work.

As has been said you need to find your own way. I will however add my tuppence worth in that if you are increasing the DD calories and decreasing the UP day calories I personally believe you won't benefit from the health benefits/almost total fat loss that you get with a 500 cal fasting.

I'm sure if your calories even out at less than what is recommended for your body weight you'll still lose weight but personally i think thats just calorie counting not JUDDD.

I agree, you are then doing something called calorie cycling..which should still result in weightloss but is not JUDD and also will not trigger the hormone changes in the body which result in health benefits & turning on the fat burning gene. You need the 'fast/feast' swing to achieve this.

I still have a lot of weight to shift and I do 2 proper DDs (Mon and Weds) Friday is an inbetween day as I DD all day but probably go over kcals for tea.

If I only did 2DDs I would not manage the regular 1 - 2lbs a week loss I am currently averaging, and that includes all of the not quite made it weeks.

My goal is to do 3 DDs most weeks and to lose weight slowly whilst gaining all the other health benefits attributed to JUDDD, especially the psychological ease of the diet - I have found it very easy to do as I am not thinking about food all the time! I know manage Monday's DD at about 300kcals (it's like relief from UD weekend). About 500 kcals on Weds and about 1000 kcals on Friday, including red wine! So my DDs average out at 600kcals. Not too bad but I will work on that!

I think that if it hurts to be hungry then you probably need to rethink JUDDDing for those last few pounds. But having said that I'd certainly suggest you try muddling round with the kcals and reduce them slowly on DDs until you find your own comfort levels. I took 2 -3 weeks to work that out and am really happy I persevered!

Good luck finding your own way to goal weight.
